A Twist on Market Friday : Either You Walk or Stay At Home __by @dswigle

It’s our market day today, so I woke up early and went for a short walk to the nearest bakery shop to buy bread before I do some shopping. I have observed that a lady in uniform was having her coffee at 6AM. I said hello in order to start a conversation and asked her permission to take a photo of her for my documentation wherein she readily approved. I inquired about the present situation of our home quarantine issues. She said that the “no back ride policy” from the Province is already in effect.

This means that those using the single motorcycles either for public or private use can no longer have a back rider to avoid contamination. This is pursuant to the memorandum order issued by the Department of Interior and Local Government to the Provincial Police Office.

Instead of lowering the ECQ to Modified ECQ, the order was to resume the ECQ due to another Covid19 outbreak caused by those coming from Manila who were granted to go home to their respective provinces. It was found out that there were positives along the border, hence this memorandum was issued for additional precautionary measures.

Well, it means I have to send an SOS to my grandson for him to do the shopping for me (thinking of my expired driver’s license again). The PNP Headquarters is just across the village and there's a tent below along the basketball court for violators!

The lady police narrated that people from different barangays instead chose to walk and started their hiking early in the morning to do their marketing and to those who will be reporting to their respective working places. They felt their sacrifices that they offered their patrol cars for free though only 6 were allowed to follow the required social distancing.

Aside from private owners, our main source in commuting is only through commercial motorcycles. This move to not allow back riders triggered various complaints which were posted on the social media from the local populace. It’s a straining activity to wait for the next available service, but for now, we will abide by the rules. We know that our City Mayor will find ways and means to solve our plight.
I am confident that our provincial governor will take action on this ongoing problem of us commuters, especially that school enrollment has already started, though it's still in the process as to whether it will be done online or in school.

For now, it's staying home to save lives.

Thank you for dropping by, God bless Us All

Till then,

It's true. So many places cannot drive, they can only walk to the local market to buy their many needs. I can see the point with the motorcycle, but, many times, it is from the same house that the riders come from. No? Even that is not allowed?

Were you not able to renew your license because of COVID? I am sure there is forgiveness because of that if that is the case. If your cases are on the rise, I do not think they will open up the schools, but do it online still. I can see that the government is making sure all the rules are followed and, of course, this will make it all end so much quicker! Awesome post and thank you for keeping us updated on your current situation!
