Hi, animal lovers!

Hoy estoy participando en una iniciativa muy interesante y verdaderamente genial que ha propuesto @ilazramusic. Me encanta todo esto porque soy admiradora de los animales. Además he tenido muchos a lo largo de mi vida (eso incluye, gatos, perros, conejos, tortugas, peces, loros, periquitos y hasta gallinas). Actualmente solo comparto mi vida con mi compañera fiel y hermosísima, mi gata Luna de 11 meses (tiempo humano).

Pero siendo así de enamoradiza, era obvio que mi amor fuera suficiente para muchos más animales. El tema es que los que quiero lamentablemente no los puedo tener, al menos la mayoría. Sin embargo, eso no me impide compartir con ustedes mi lista soñada de “Las mascotas exóticas que quisiera tener”

Así que… ¿Comenzamos?

Today I'm participating in a very interesting and really cool initiative proposed by @ilazramusic. I love all of this because I'm an animal fan. Plus I've had many throughout my life (that includes, cats, dogs, rabbits, turtles, fish, parrots, parakeets and even chickens). Currently I only share my life with my faithful and beautiful companion, my 11 month old cat Luna (human time).

But being that much in love, it was obvious that my love would be enough for many more animals. The thing is that the ones I love unfortunately I can't have them, at least most of them. However, that doesn't stop me from sharing with you my dream list of "The exotic pets I would like to have".

So... Shall we start?

En el puesto N°1 se encuentra:
“El lince de Canadá o Lynx Canadensis”

Llevo años fascinada por este animal y definitivamente es el que más me encanta de todos y el que a veces me da una tristeza tonta por no poderlo tener. Pero cuando mi padre me dijo que mínimo debía comer 5kg de carne cada vez que le correspondiera y que concientizara cuanto tenía que invertir en el hermoso animal, puede que haya cambiado de opinión. Tiene grandes actitudes cazadoras y suele elegir la noche para capturar conejos, roedores o aves. Pues, fue cuando lamenté no ser lo suficientemente adinerada como para poder mantenerlo. Aunque obviamente, igual no puedo. Eso lo sé. Es un felino que merece disfrutar de su libertad y ser admirado desde lejos. No solo eso. Debido a su pelaje, que es muy denso y largo para protegerse del frío debido al hábitat en donde vive, en mi país Venezuela podría enfermarse debido a que el clima no es adecuado para él. Con alrededor de 90cm de altura, su hábitat suelen ser las poblaciones más altas de los bosques de Canadá y Alaska. ¡Rayos! ¡Mal por mí! Aunque aún sueño con acariciarlo…

Sin embargo… “Pese al esfuerzo de las autoridades en los últimos años por recuperar a la especie, el lince de Canadá está desapareciendo paulatinamente junto a su hábitat. En el estado de Washington están protegidos a nivel estatal y federal como una especie amenazada. Porque actualmente el lince se encuentra en los estados de Maine, Minnesota, Montana, Colorado, Idaho y Washington. En Canadá sin embargo, se cazan por su piel”. De verdad espero que lo solucionen lo más pronto posible y puedan protegerlos.

In the N°1 position is:
"The Canada Lynx or Lynx Canadensis"

I have been fascinated by this animal for years and it is definitely the one I love the most of all and the one that sometimes gives me a silly sadness for not being able to have it. But when my father told me that I should eat at least 5kg of meat every time he was due and to be aware of how much I had to invest in the beautiful animal, I may have changed my mind. He has great hunting attitudes and usually chooses the night to catch rabbits, rodents or birds. Well, that's when I regretted not being wealthy enough to be able to keep him. Although obviously, I still can't. I know that. He is a feline that deserves to enjoy his freedom and be admired from afar. Not only that. Because of his fur, which is very dense and long to protect him from the cold due to the habitat where he lives, in my country Venezuela he could get sick because the climate is not suitable for him. At around 90cm tall, his habitat is usually the highest populations in the forests of Canada and Alaska, too bad for me! I still dream of petting him, though....

However... "Despite the efforts of authorities in recent years to recover the species, the Canada lynx is gradually disappearing along with its habitat. In Washington State they are protected at the state and federal level as a threatened species. Because lynx are currently found in the states of Maine, Minnesota, Montana, Colorado, Idaho and Washington. In Canada however, they are hunted for their fur." I really hope they sort it out as soon as possible and can protect them.

En el puesto N°2 se encuentra:
“El zorro común o zorro rojo”

Este animal es bellísimo por donde lo vea. Y me encantaría poder cuidarlo. Puede adaptarse a distintos hábitats, come tanto frutas y verduras como algunos roedores, conejos, aves, reptiles y algunos ciervos jóvenes. Suelen tener expresiones faciales como si estuvieran contentos todo el tiempo, eso me encanta. Para poder adoptarlos se debe tener un gran carácter para imponerse al animal, ya que suelen ser muy dominantes.

In the N°2 position is:
"The common fox or red fox"

This animal is beautiful everywhere you look. And I would love to be able to take care of it. It can adapt to different habitats, it eats fruits and vegetables as well as some rodents, rabbits, birds, reptiles and some young deer. They usually have facial expressions like they are happy all the time, I love that. To be able to adopt them you must have a great character to impose yourself to the animal, as they are usually very dominant.

En el puesto N°3 se encuentra:
“El zorro de mármol canadiense o zorro mármol”

Con mucho respeto a los otros zorros, creo que este es el zorro más hermoso de todos. Pertenece a la especie de zorro rojo, pero es una mutación: el color de su pelaje no es normal, y ha sido criado por humanos por ello. Pero no pueden ser realmente domesticados, así que no se recomienda el tenerlos como mascotas, ya que pueden ser peligrosos.

In the N°3 position is:
"The Canadian marble fox or marble fox"

With much respect to the other foxes, I think this is the most beautiful fox of all. It belongs to the red fox species, but it is a mutation: the color of its fur is not normal, and it has been bred by humans because of that. But they can't really be domesticated, so it is not recommended to keep them as pets, as they can be dangerous.

“El tigre blanco o tigre albino”

La primera vez que vi uno hace años en el zoológico, quedé deslumbrada. Realmente es una belleza más. Carnívoro y con una condición genética que los hace diferentes a los tigres comunes, son impresionantes y no pueden tenerse como mascotas. Su longevidad es de 15 años en libertad y 20 en cautiverio.

"The white tiger or albino tiger"

The first time I saw one years ago at the zoo, I was dazzled. It really is another beauty. Carnivorous and with a genetic condition that makes them different from common tigers, they are stunning and cannot be kept as pets. Their longevity is 15 years in the wild and 20 in captivity.

En el puesto N°5 se encuentra:
“El oso panda”

Considerados uno de los animales más adorables del mundo. Comen bambú casi todo el día, pero pueden llegar a ser muy agresivos y peligrosos si se sienten amenazados. Para nada pueden ser criados como mascotas, de hecho su cuidado en los zoológicos es bastante estricto y demandante. Pueden llegar a vivir de 25 a 35 años.

In the N°5 position is:
"The panda bear"

Considered one of the most adorable animals in the world. They eat bamboo almost all day long, but can become very aggressive and dangerous if they feel threatened. They cannot be bred as pets at all, in fact their care in zoos is quite strict and demanding. They can live from 25 to 35 years.

En el puesto N°6 se encuentra:
“El panda rojo”

Nativo de las zonas montañosas de Asia, se encuentra en peligro de extinción y no puede ser criado como una mascota. Debido a la pérdida de su hábitat tiene que ser reproducido en zoológicos y santuarios de animales. No les gusta para nada el calor y suelen dormir durante el mediodía. Comen mayormente bambú, pero también huevos, aves e insectos. Es encantador, muy juguetón y definitivamente precioso.

In the N°6 position is:
"The red panda"

Native to the mountainous areas of Asia, it is endangered and cannot be bred as a pet. Due to the loss of its habitat it has to be reproduced in zoos and animal sanctuaries. They do not like heat at all and usually sleep during midday. They eat mostly bamboo, but also eggs, birds and insects. It is charming, very playful and definitely beautiful.

En el puesto N°7 se encuentra:
“El hurón”

A este chiquito le encanta tomar cualquier cosa que le llame la atención, así que hay que tener cuidado con lo que nos gustaría conservar. Otro más que duerme la mayor parte del día, pero pueden adaptar sus horarios a la de las personas u otros seres con los que puede convivir. Tienen una baja calidad de visión, pero lo compensan con su sentido del olfato y de audición. Debido a que muchas personas suelen tenerlos de mascotas y que tienen un olor bastante marcado, algunos suelen ser sometidos a un procedimiento en donde extirpan sus glándulas sudoríparas, pero no está bien ya que puede ser perjudicial para el pequeño animal. Han sido domesticados desde hace más de 2000 años, pero aun en muchos países no se les reconoce como animales de compañía. Así que este si podría tenerlo, tal vez en algún momento. Son carnívoros y su pelaje puede cambiar drásticamente a lo largo de su vida. Hermosos y adorables...

"The Ferret"

This little guy loves to take anything that catches his eye, so we have to be careful what we would like to keep. Another one that sleeps most of the day, but they can adapt their schedules to that of people or other beings with whom they can coexist. They have a low quality of vision, but compensate with their sense of smell and hearing. Due to the fact that many people usually keep them as pets and that they have a quite marked odor, some of them are usually submitted to a procedure where their sweat glands are removed, but this is not good since it can be harmful for the small animal. They have been domesticated for more than 2000 years, but even in many countries they are not recognized as pets. So this one you could have, maybe at some point. They are carnivores and their fur can change drastically throughout their lives. Beautiful and adorable...

En el puesto N°8 se encuentra:
“La lechuza”

Sí, me enamore de Hedwig la lechuza mágica de Harry Potter. A mi parecer son más hermosas estéticamente que otras aves y tal vez un poco más tranquilas. Suelen comer pequeños mamíferos, anfibios, reptiles, insectos y aves pequeñas. Aunque tienen un sonido más ruidoso que el de su familiar el búho. Sigue siendo considerado un animal exótico por lo que no es común que se crie entre humanos. Pero de ser así, debe ser criado desde pichón ya que las aves nocturnas luego de grandes ya no se acostumbran y carecen de sociabilidad.

"The owl"

Yes, I fell in love with Hedwig the magical owl from Harry Potter. In my opinion they are more aesthetically beautiful than other birds and perhaps a little quieter. They usually eat small mammals, amphibians, reptiles, insects and small birds. Although they have a louder sound than their relative the owl. It is still considered an exotic animal so it is not commonly bred among humans. But if so, it should be raised from young, since nocturnal birds do not get used to it and lack sociability after they grow up.

Y finalmente en el puesto N°9 se encuentra:
“El murciélago blanco hondureño”

Se lo que están pensando… ¡Pero es que son adorables! Son los murciélagos más pequeños del reino animal. Miden alrededor de 6 cm y pueden construir sus propios hogares con al menos 5 clases de diferentes hojas. Las cortan y les van dando forma con la cual evitar la humedad de esas altas temperaturas en el hábitat donde viven, y cuidando además que haya espacio suficiente para una familia de entre 7 y 8 miembros. Pesan 10 gr, se alimentan de frutas, hojas y semillas. Además suelen llevar una vida muy tranquila en sus tiendas de campaña. Las crías con apenas 7 días ya son capaces de volar y, según los biólogos, con 35 días ya son exactamente igual a los adultos. Son fascinantes, hermosos y tranquilos. ¡Me encantan, los adoro!

And finally in the N°9 position is:
"The Honduran white bat"

I know what you are thinking... But they are adorable! They are the smallest bats in the animal kingdom. They measure about 6 cm and can build their own homes with at least 5 different kinds of leaves. They cut them and shape them to avoid the humidity of those high temperatures in the habitat where they live, and also taking care that there is enough space for a family of 7 to 8 members. They weigh 10 grams and feed on fruits, leaves and seeds. They usually lead a very quiet life in their tents. The hatchlings are able to fly when they are only 7 days old and, according to biologists, when they are 35 days old they look exactly like adults. They are fascinating, beautiful and calm, I love them, I adore them!

Me encantó compartir con ustedes mi Top 9 de mascotas exóticas que quisiera tener.

Recuerden… Algunos animales exóticos si pueden ser criados por humanos, pero depende de los permisos de por medio y lo más importante, si es seguro para el animal.

Los animales no son juguetes, son seres vivos que tienen todo el derecho a su libertad y a su felicidad. Por favor, protege a los animales. Que los humanos tengamos la capacidad de hablar y seamos los que “controlen el mundo” no significa que las otras especies de seres vivos no puedan vivir en armonía y no deban ser respetados. Conciencia chicos, conciencia.

I was delighted to share with you my Top 9 exotic pets I would like to have.

Remember... Some exotic animals can be bred by humans, but it depends on the permissions involved and most importantly, if it is safe for the animal.

Animals are not toys, they are living beings that have every right to their freedom and happiness. Please protect the animals. Just because we humans have the ability to speak and are the ones who "control the world" does not mean that other species of living beings cannot live in harmony and should not be respected. Conscience guys, conscience.

Last note: I want to thank @ilazramusic for coming up with this wonderful idea, I loved being part of this initiative.
