A few days ago one of my cats gave me a great scare. And it was great because in all these years that I have pets, I never had to go to the vet for anything out of the ordinary, until now. Fortunately, it was nothing serious and it was resolved quickly, but I was really scared, for my cat and for my finances 😂.
Hace unos días atrás uno de mis gatos me dio un gran susto. Y fue grande porque en todos estos años que tengo mascotas nunca tuve que ir al veterinario por nada fuera de lo común, hasta ahora. Afortunadamente, no fue nada grave y se resolvió rápido, pero de verdad tuve miedo, por mi gato y por mis finanzas 😂.
Last year, my sister's cat got sick after receiving her neuter surgery. Unfortunately, we could not detect her problem in time and this caused her to form stones in her urinary tract that had to be removed with expensive surgery. Luckily the cat is fine now, healthy and beautiful. But that situation was traumatic for everyone. That is why we are all half scared about the health of our neutered cats and we begin to pay more attention to them than before.
El año pasado, el gato de mi hermana se enfermó luego de recibir su cirugía de castración. Lamentablemente, no pudimos detectar su problema a tiempo y esto hizo que se le formen unas piedras en las vías urinarias que tuvieron que retirarlas con una costosa cirugía. Por suerte, el gato está bien ahora, saludable y hermoso. Pero esa situación fue traumática para todos. Es por eso que todos quedamos medios asustados en cuanto a la salud de nuestros gatos castrados y empezamos a prestarles más atención que antes.
The weird thing we noticed about him this time was that he wanted to pee and he couldn't. We saw him walking everywhere but he did nothing. I think when I saw this I immediately thought of my sister's cat and I got a little desperate.
Lo raro que notamos en él esta vez fue que quería hacer pis y no podía. Lo veíamos pasear por todas partes pero no hacía nada. Creo que cuando ví esto inmediatamente pensé en el gato de mi hermana y me desesperé un poco.

So I looked for a vet near my house and we went. I put the cat in a bag and we traveled by train to reach the place (it was the closest I could get). Throughout the trip he was crying and kicking me, of course he was very scared on the trip but when we got to the vet's office he calmed down.
Entonces busqué un veterinario cerca de mi casa y fuimos. Metí al gato en un bolso y viajamos en tren hasta llegar al lugar (fue la más cercana que conseguí). En todo el viaje fue llorando y pateandome, por supuesto estaba muy asustado en el viaje pero cuando llegamos al consultorio del vet se tranquilizó.
There they checked it and they told me that fortunately I did not have a blocked urinary tract and that it was all a urinary infection. The reason was that after the castration operation, perhaps he himself was cleaning that area a lot and with his own language he became contaminated. Hearing this, I breathed a little relieved.
Allí lo revisaron y me dijeron que afortunadamente no tenía las vías urinarias obstruidas y que todo se trataba de una infección urinaria. El motivo fue que luego de la operación de la castración, quizás él mismo se estuvo limpiando mucho esa zona y con su propia lengua se contaminó. Al oír esto respiré algo aliviada.
The treatment prescribed by the vet was injectable antibiotics for 4 days, so in total we went 4 times to the place. During those trips she made her needs in her purse, so apparently the medication worked and her excretory system has already been regularized 😂.
El tratamiento que recetó el veterinario fueron antibióticos inyectables durante 4 días, por lo que en total fuimos 4 veces hasta el lugar. Durante esos viajes hizo sus necesidades dentro del bolso, así que aparentemente la medicación funcionó y su sistema excretor ya se había regularizado 😂.

He also told me that it is very important that he eat a special food for neutered male cats called "Urinary". This food is slightly lighter than regular food and helps prevent the formation of these obstructions in the urinary tract. Of course this food is EXPENSIVE but not as expensive or terrible as surgery (almost $6 for 2 lbs).
También me dijo que es muy importante que coma un alimento especial para gatos machos castrados llamado "Urinary". Este alimento es un poco más liviano que el alimento regular y ayuda a prevenir la formación de estas obstrucciones en las vías urinarias. Por supuesto este alimento es COSTOSÍSIMO pero bueno, no tan costoso ni terrible como una cirugía (casi 6 USD por kilo).
After going through all of this and eating his super millionaire cat food for a few days, he feels great and can relieve himself properly. I'm happy it was nothing more than that 😃.
Después de pasar por todo esto y de llevar algunos días comiendo su super alimento de gato millonario, se siente muy bien y puede hacer sus necesidades correctamente. Estoy feliz de que no haya sido nada más que eso 😃.
Fortunately, of the 7 cats that we have, only two are males: him and another kitten that is still a baby. I'm glad this is so, because if I had to go through this with all the cats I would go crazy. Anyway, luckily everything went well ❤️!
Afortunadamente, de los 7 gatos que tenemos, solo dos son machos: él y otro gatito que aún es un bebé. Me alegro de que esto sea así, ya que si tuviera que pasar por esto con todos los gatos me volvería loca. De todos modos, ¡por suerte salió todo bien ❤️!

Que belleza de gatito 😻😻 y que alegro que esté bien y no es nada grave como el de tu hermana o alguna otra cosa. Ciertamente la comida para gatos siempre ha sido más costosa no se porque pero así es yo tengo 5 gatitos y sufro con la comida 😅😅
