ANIMAL CRUELTY IS EVIL

The one time I had a jumpscare with my dog was almost a year ago when she ran into the house frightened. It turned out to be something we later had a laugh about but in that moment, seeing my dog so scared, it was one of the scariest moments of my life.

The cry of a dog is hard to overlook even when it's a simple cry for attention, talk more, pain. I saw a video a few hours ago of a very well-trained and well-behaved American Bully by the name Roxie. For the first time, Roxie had wandered off into the streets of the gated estate where her owners live and she obviously lost her way so she slept off in someone else's compound.

The houses in the estate do not necessarily have individual gates that are locked so Roxie didn't force her way in. She got scared and slept off next to the generator house in a compound. Imagine the horror she woke up to, she was shot thrice by the security guards and in front of her owner!

The owner of the house where she had slept could be heard in the video urging the men to shoot Roxie again and send her away. They didn't let her owner get to her and she bled, ran, cried, and hid in fear.

It was confirmed that Roxie only slept there, other tenants in the estate had earlier called the security unit to notify them that a stray dog was found in the streets. When the owners called the security, they were told to come collect their dog. Only to go and watch Roxie be killed by these devils.

That was the most heartbreaking video I have seen in a while. Each cry felt like pangs in my chest and I can't sleep with image of Roxie in my mind. I can't imagine what her owners are going through.

The very stupid reason these devils had for killing Roxie is the estate rule (not stated in any writing or rule book by the way) that says all stray dogs should be killed. Firstly, there is no such rule, secondly, no where in this world is that right or even makes sense.

It is horrific how they justify this evil act. Apparently, this is not the first time, Roxie is the 6th dog this is happening to in the same estate right there in Lagos, Nigeria. In a country where laws hold no water and human lives are not cared for, you most likely can tell animal rights don't matter here.

Following up the conversation about Roxie, the police have been involved and lawyers have taken up the case. The heads or whatever of the estate held a meeting and get this, it wasn't about discussing the animal cruelty that had taken place, it was about kicking Roxie's owners out of the estate because the estate was getting bad publicity.

Can you believe one of the people claiming it is the estate rule to kill stray dogs also has two dogs? Not everyone who owns dogs is actually a dog lover or even has a heart!

This is the saddest thing for an animal lover, even non-animal lovers would be heartbroken by this criminal act. I found out my dog had strayed away a few days ago and came back home herself. Despite all of the safeguarding, she still found her way out for good 10 minutes and I had no idea. Imagine if I stayed in a place with devils like the killers of Roxie!

There is no reason at all this should have happened, there are no what ifs or maybes, or what should have or shouldn't have been done in hindsight, this is animal cruelty, it is unjust, evil, and criminal.

I can only hope for justice for Roxie and the 5 other dogs this has happened to. At least, she has caused people to speak up and there are several rights organisations and people willing to fight this case till the end.

RIP Roxie ❤️

Animal cruelty is something I really hate to see. So sorry for poor Roxie. But why people become so hostile to an animal just because it is not their own still baffles me. I have had some animals stray into my compound. Just recently a neighbor left their gate open and a puppy strayed into my compound. I had to guide it back to where it came from and alerted the owners who were so grateful. We can learn to be fair to everyone - including animals.

So touched by this story I decided to share it on threads so others can see it.

The dog did nothing. How can they say she's a 'wild' dogs because of her looks. She wasn't harmful or threatening. There is absolutely no reason this should have happened. It's so sad. I didn't know people had this much wickedness in them.

Thanks for sharing

This kind of things happen everyday and its quite unfortunate. Especially if you live in a place like ours where everything -even human lives - is taken for granted. If I have a pet, I wouldn't make that mistake of letting it stray in the first place. Chances are that it will never return.

These innocent lives cannot stand for themselves. Thanks for putting up this sensitive issue.

Oppressors take delight in attacking those who can't stand up for themselves

That's so heartbreaking

all stray dogs should be killed.

This statement boils my blood. Rest in peace, Roxie. I hope those people who killed that cute dog will rot in hell!

You get it! So the man in the estate who owns two dogs himself defending this is basically saying if his own dogs are found straying it's okay to kill them. He claims he can never let his dog stray.

My heart is already bleeding, gosh this is cruel, Shooting and killing a dog that did you no harm. I just managed to finish this write up to know if authorities have been involved because I'm already crying for Roxie.

Not everyone who owns dogs is actually a dog lover or even has a heart!

On point.
