PROMO token finalization idea

I wrote a post a few days ago about an addition to POSH or rather a new token side by side for discussions mentioning Hive on Twitter: and a post by @jongolson made me rethink some things about it and give new life to the idea that I may have fine-tuned a bit more now and wanted to share to see what you'd think about it.

New token, yes.

To keep the "POSH" true to its name: proof of sharing, we'd create a new token instead, @hivetrending had a great idea with the PROMO token name in the previous post and it would fit it pretty well.

To give POSH earners and holders some extra value they'd receive a small airdrop/claimdrop, this would enable some liquidity of tokens on the market so they wouldn't need to just wait for new users to earn them before others could buy it up. At the same time a "PROMO" claimdrop could exist for new registrations by linking their twitter and hive usernames on hiveposh.com to receive a set amount of tokens to their hive-engine wallet. This would not only promote the website and initiative a bit more but also add some more liquidity to the markets. (Some possible restrictions based on account reputation)

Why would people buy up PROMO?

As @jongolson stated, more discussions about Hive on cryptotwitter and especially good ones at that would only help drive more attention to Hive aside from the general POSHing. We have something amazing here that the rest of the world doesn't know about and needs to find out but constantly talking about Hive on twitter or looking for good places to bring it up takes effort, energy and willpower. Similar to the rest of our other activity here it deserves some extra incentives.

If people don't buy it themselves, we could also look to add a proposal to ask for DHF funding to burn up PROMO so it rises or at least maintains a value and in exchange Hive gains value from increased traffic. And/or offer some inflation of PROMO to delegators while the hive rewards would buy and burn tokens from the market.

How would it work in practice?

Me and @theycallmedan created a posh community a while ago which was quite similar to the idea behind PROMO, but doing it manually and bothering with alt accounts, burning beneficiaries, etc, was quite a lot of work so here's how PROMO could make it work a lot better.

We'd use a new account (@hiveposh for instance, thanks to @eddiespino for handing over the account to POSH), every time #hive/$hive is tagged in a tweet or reply, @hiveposh would make a new post or comment in an existing post with a twitter link embed to it. Stakeholders/curators would look out for it, wouldn't even need open the tweet up as they could see the embedded message, who it was replied to, etc on our frontends and curate it accordingly while deciding if they also want to open the tweet up to leave their own comment or like and retweet the message as support.

@hiveposh would set beneficiaries to the Hive account linked with the Twitter account so the right person would receive the Hive rewards along with PROMO rewards.

As you know Twitter works similar to many other social media platforms, if you reply to someone's tweet and you receive a lot of likes on it, it'll be bumped up to the top increasing your chances of gaining visibility, attention and possibly a response from OP. This initiative would basically create a bandwagon of people supporting good tweets by checking each of them out and giving support on Twitter without needing to look for them there. Curators here could at the same time use their votes to throw attention to which tweets they think have good potential to gain a lot of traction so others wouldn't need to check each and every @hiveposh post/comment individually.

The reward mechanism

It could work similarly as @poshtoken works right now, daily issuance of x amount of PROMO tokens based on likes and retweets on said tweets discussing hive. It could be anything from a short messages, memes, questions, etc. At the same time they could also earn hive rewards based on curation in the POSH community along with allowing tips to be possible as well knowing who the tweet belonged if something happened to gain a lot of traction later on and stakeholders want to thank that person extra.

To avoid abuse or people earning PROMO who may do the opposite (Hive may have some enemies out there), we could have PROMO curators look through incoming PROMO rewards to blacklist certain accounts from earning them if required, they could at the same time compile posts of the best tweets of that day or week to earn Hive rewards for their time and diligence. This would also prevent abuse on chain from people selfvoting these comments up or using alt accounts, etc, to double dip on the reward pool from tweets that did nothing.

Please let me know what you think of the idea and if there's any other additions you'd like to see in it or do things differently. It would be great to get this going soon so we can gain a bigger momentum on Twitter and work together as a group to get the message to the right people rather than what we're seeing today where it's mostly memecoins and other trash filling twitter with fake likes, retweets, etc on coins with no utility or potential.

Nice nice :) I'm seeing a lot more activity around Hive on twitter since I reactivated it. POSH is surely already incentivizing people to participate with fellow Hivers on Twitter. Let me know if you need a visual guy in your team :)

Just to make sure I'm getting it right?
tl;dr
PROMO = promoting Hive in the context of promoting on social media
POSH = pushing Hive content on social media

Sounds interesting. At the time of writing, Poshing requires "#hive" tag in the tweet to track it but I've noticed that sometimes Twitter's algo semi-shadowbans us or puts in in a narrow corridor where we're only talking to ourselves. So, the question is, do we have any other way to track Posh tweets besides just the "hive" tag? Perhaps it tracks just the link shared?

Same thing for Promo token, what if I'm having a discussion with someone on Twitter but don't want to continuously use "hive" as a tag in my tweets, how will my tweets be tracked?

How does it shadowban exactly? Is this proven/tested?

That's a good question, I guess we'd have to rely on curation for that part, if someone opens up the twitter link where you first used the hive tag and see that you went on discussing it for many tweets, etc, they'd give you a bigger vote/tip, etc, if it had a positive impact. Other than that I don't see how a bot could distinguish what you're talking about.

I don't know if it has been tested but there have been a number of Hive users who feel like their Hive tweets were being censored. For a while in the past, even 3speak videos were having issues with Twitter.

Hmm, would be nice to test it somehow concretely.

@belemo is right @acidyo! Excessive use of one tag in all your tweets, it's tag spam. Twitter might consider it commercially motivated spam.

Moreover, it won't look good (serve as a distraction) to the other party we are talking with.

If I'm not wrong Twitter Api let you query words, not necessarily #hive ;)

Awesome. It's great that we can pick words too. So most probably we might not need hashtags to track.

About the "just links" now hive tag requirement, we will look into it if we can evolve posh into that.

This is so fucking brilliant guys. I don't know how you come up with these things. The problem is real. And it can change the game for us. I will double down my efforts to shill Hive if I know my time is worth something. It's human nature!

One suggestion: We need liquidity pools on Tribal Dex or probably on Cubdefi (BSC) or PolyCUB (Polygon) to 1. have more liquidity 2. incentivize hodling I would definitely put my tokens there and earn further rewards. Could be a great use case for both POSH and PROMO.

I haven't thought about liquidity pools actually, maybe could get that going for Posh already and set aside some daily issuance as rewards for providers? Along with some possible hive rewards.

That'd be awesome! 🔥 Looking forward to it. That could bump the demand for $POSH

I wanted to say this too. I think it would be a great idea. It would mean expanding and blowing it up big. Plus it would create more attention

This is a good initiative. Even better that it is being done during the bears. We need to go beyond Twitter though. Youtube, Facebook, etc are waiting for the evangelism of hive.

Yeah man I’d focus on comments on non-hivers tweets, hive related tweets that aren’t comments are just an echo chamber

The Twitter algorithm (like fb and instagram) hates links.

Nice initiative ! Can’t wait to see more of this new version of the project :) I didn’t really understand if the poshtoken will remain in game, or if the PROMO will remplace it... Thank you all for your dedicated work !

This is really a nice idea and a great one in using twitter more in showcasing hive to the world through tweets, it's definitely a nice initiative

I like the idea, I just wonder about a new token. "Proof of Sharing" could easily be expanded to 'sharing the virtues of hive to the masses'. The reward pool could be bifurcated into traditional posh activities and promo activities, or it could all be kept together but shares of articles get a little more weight compared to just mentioning hive.

Overall, I think you all have identified a need. Well done!

I don't think it's going to matter too much, they are all connected to hive and one could come up with different ways to keep them interconnected and assisting eachother.

Nice idea!
Tons of Hivers are in Twitter so I think this will work.
But I hope we would get non-Hivers involvement in our tweets about hive.

I’m also hoping we could extend to Facebook later on but maybe you’re already thinking about it.
Lately I’ve not been seeing my thumbnails whenever I share a peakd link to facebook which I don’t understand why.

but yeah we would love to add FB as well in the near future.

Looking forward to that!

Sounds like an issue with the embedding, I'm sure @asgarth can take a look if FB api has changed.

I love this idea of promoting hive blockchain on other social media like Twitter.

Sounds interesting, but I still need to get a better understanding on #posh. I am still unsure if I was able to register correctly over the weekend and how to use. However, cross sharing our posts on socials has been a good way I have seen some good HIVE content.

Does it show both of your usernames on hiveposh.com?

That's ok, so, we'll have now two tokens for promotion on Twitter - POSH and PROMO? btw: what about promotion on other social networks? FB, TikTok, etc...?

It's in the plans but we want to perfect Twitter first as it may have a greater effect due to the popularity of crypto people on there and considering just a few years ago FB and some others were outright banning anything crypto.

The idea of promoting Hive through author content and rewarding interactions is the best marketing possible.

I like the name PROMO, it gives a good idea of what the intention of the project is.

The rewards earned on this comment will go directly to the people( @claudio83, @hivetrending, @gwajnberg ) sharing the post on Twitter as long as they are registered with @poshtoken. Sign up at https://hiveposh.com.

Sounds great.

I want to know max supply of posh? and where can i check everything

It's around 800k I believe, haven't checked in a while but I know close to 100k of it is already burned.

is that possible ? a very small amount!

To get PROMO should we use the HT, for example "#PROMO" as it is done with Posh?

It was never required to tag posh on twitter, only hive.

Thanks for these creative innovations. They are truly useful.

sounds like a great program! 💪😉👍
