--It’s time. Welcome to Social Media and the Blockchain. I am your host, Jennifer Navarrete and this episode is the twenty-sixth in a 30-part series.

The goal of this show is to demystify the blockchain as a content creation destination, simplify the onboarding process, and encourage you to learn more about Web 3.0.

In this episode I am going to share some of the ways Hive makes a great podcast destination and how Hive can power Value4Value.

Let’s start with the podcast opportunities within Hive. Based on my own use and research there are two dApps which would make a great home for your podcast. One is Aureal which is a dedicated podcasting dApp and if you’ve been listening to this podcast then just know that before it goes anywhere else it is uploaded first to Aureal. So not only is my podcast about the blockchain, my podcast also lives on the blockchain.

My experience with Aureal and the development team has been a good one. They are nimble and continually adding in new features to make Aureal a great home for podcasters on Hive. I’ve been pleased with my experience and look forward to seeing how @Aureal develops to meet the needs of podcasters on Hive. The other is 3Speak, a video dApp that has Podcasting 2.0 Value4Value features built in natively. You may be wondering, “Jennifer why are you talking about video in a podcasting segment?” To see why video platforms have quickly become podcasting platforms all we have to do is take a look at the growing popularity of YouTube as a podcast destination. Yes, you heard me right. But don’t just take my word for it. The most recent Edison Research Share of Ear report tells a compelling story about podcasts on video platforms. What 3Speak has that YouTube does not is the fact any video or podcast you upload to 3Speak is Value4Value enabled. You don’t have to go to satoshis.stream to add the Value4Value block. It’s already done for you. @3Speak’s robust RSS feature has the value4value block enabled which means all 3Speak videos can be found on PodcastIndex.org and be on the receiving end of those streaming SATS or Boostigrams from listeners. Awesome, right? The reason this is possible is because of developers like @BrianofLondon who worked with the 3Speak team to make the connection between 3Speak and the Podcast Index a reality.

That’s not all @BrianofLondon and fellow developers have done to make it easy for Hivers to benefit from the Value4Value model, he has also developed a Lightening Network Bridge to enable Hive or Hive Backed Dollars to be converted to SATS ready for s treaming or boosting. The reverse can be done as well. You can go from SATS to Hive or HBD.

This is such an exciting tool because I can take the Hive or HBD I have earned as a reward for content creation or content curation. Which I consider a form of Value4Value. I can take that Hive and turn it into Satoshis so I can reward podcasters to give them value for the value I receive.

Another tool that is on Hive is PodPing which allows for fast and efficient global notification of podcast feed updates. A link to a curated collection of posts about Podcasting 2.0, Podping, Value4Value and more by @BrianofLondon can be found in the show notes.
