Indomitus: Unboxing

in Warhammer4 years ago (edited)

It's been a while since I posted anything Warhammer-related here on Hive. My weekend was a mess, so I missed the launch frenzy across the web, but this still may be a Hive exclusive. Let's start unpacking this giant box of plastic crack!

Still sealed in factory plastic wrap. Let's get that off and pop open the lid.

And we see a blue monochrome art piece on a sheet of liner paper. We'll get that out of the way quick fast in a hurry.

Ah, glorious plastic model sprues! Well, technically, these are frames and runners. The sprues are actually the little bits left at the injection port locations, if memory serves. But the term sprues has been applied to these frames of parts by many hobbyists.

We'll take a closer look at some of these later. Let's see what's under the plastic!

Another monochrome art piece liner. Moving on...

Here we go. The bases for the models are in compartments on either side of this glorious centerpiece: a hardcover special edition rulebook for the new 9th Edition of Warhammer 40,000. Plus, there's a campaign rulebook with datasheets for all the units in the box, a transfer sheet with Space Marine iconography, an assembly guide, and a flier for an upcoming novel from the fiction series accompanying the game.

To close out this post for now, here's a table covered with all the box contents plus a few bits of swag I received as a bonus for pre-ordering at my local game store.

In a future post, I plan to go over assembling the Necron army in the box. I will be trading the Space Marines to a friend for another Necron set, so I should have a decent army of Egyptian robot zombies eventually.
