Goddess Of Darkness: Dawn Comes Early

in Scholar and Scribelast year (edited)

The criminals Marv and Grady have recaptured Bruce and Lilac! While still stranded deep in the jungles of South America, Grady has just summoned his boss, the head of a powerful and deadly ring of criminals. Will INTERPOL arrive first, or will our heroes be delivered to the crime lord?

Marv looked at Grady suspiciously, then decided to drop the subject. "Let's get some sleep. Dawn comes early, and I for one want to look my best when I shake the boss's hand."

Grady nodded, and both men chose a sleeping bag, and a spot on the floor. Bruce and Lilac, chained to their seats, were a lot less comfortable.

Sometime before dawn, Bruce woke up. At first he thought it was because of the crook in his neck. He sat there working his neck muscles, when he heard a yell. It was the wildest thing he had ever heard! A mix between a triumphant squall and a scream of anger and pain.

The interior of the plane was pitch black, but Bruce could feel Lilac next to him, awake and ready for anything. They then heard a gunshot, quickly followed by a blinding light shined directly in their eyes.

"Hey, watch where you shine that thing!" Protested Bruce.

The light swept the interior of the plane, and revealed a very bloody Marv, silent for once due to the shock and pain. Other than that, they were alone.

There were huge red paw prints leading to the cockpit. Lilac looked at Grady accusingly. "What were you thinking, firing that gun in the dark? You could have hit any one of us!" She said angrily.

"I shot into the ceiling, to buy time to get the light..." He said, somewhat embarrassed.

"Good plan..." She admitted reluctantly.

"Not to interrupt your debate on the proper use of firearms, but Marv doesn't look so good." Bruce pointed out.

Grady approached the badly mauled Marv, and promptly found a corner to vomit in. Once he composed himself, he asked "Do either of you know first aid?".

"I do." Said Bruce and Lilac at the same time.

Grady looked at them, afraid to hope. "Will either of you help him... Please?"

"I guess we can't let him die, can we? Let's just hope Marv is right, and dawn does come early!" Said Lilac.

Relieved, Grady thanked her, and as he released her he said "you have my word, when we get what we need you will go free."
