Goddess Of Darkness: Reinforcements

When we left our little group, they were still stranded in the jungle. Marv had been severely mauled by a wild animal, and Grady had appealed to our heroes for help in saving his life. Lilac agreed to help, but will it be enough?

"Fine, but you have to promise me that you'll do the same for Bruce. How can you promise to protect either of us though?"

Grady paled for a second, then collected himself. "I promise to do my best... Please just trust me." With that he turned towards the now unconscious Marv, and almost passed out. Marv was laying in a pool of his own blood.

Lilac grabbed the supply bag, and went to work cleaning and stitching up Marv, who was mercifully out cold. She wasn't sure if she could do a good job if she had to hogtie him to make him cooperate. And she had no doubt he would protest.

While she was working, Grady made some sandwiches for her and Bruce, and when she finished asked each of them what they would like to drink.

"Can you please release Bruce so he can help me with Marv later?" Asked Lilac as she accepted a glass of orange juice.

Grady nodded, and took off the chain and handcuffs, but left the shackles on his ankles.

Bruce and Lilac took turns watching over Marv, who came to several times, opening his stitches when he raged about who was taking care of him.

Luckily Lilac had found a more advanced medical kit in a small storage unit where bathroom supplies were kept. She administered a sedative to prevent him from reinjuring himself. This went on for the rest of the night.

Nobody got much sleep, between watching for the possible return of the predator, and worrying about Marv.

When dawn finally came, all had heavy eyelids. "I for one am ready for a nap." Said Lilac, yawning and grabbing a sleeping bag and finding a place to sleep.

The next thing she knew, Bruce was gently shaking her. Sun was streaming in, obviously several hours had passed.

"Wake up Lilac, I think our ride is here." Said Bruce grimly.

Lilac groaned and pulled her head back into the sleeping bag, wishing for one more hour. But Bruce was right, she heard the distinctive sound of an approaching helicopter growing louder by the moment.
