Our two heroes are awaiting the occupants of the helicopter. Will it be INTERPOL agents? Or more criminals, sent to retrieve Bruce and Lilac?
Will Lilac be persuaded to tell them the secret of the Goddess?
"I'm sorry, but I'll have to chain you two up again before the boss's men arrive," Grady apologized.
"I understand," Lilac replied calmly. "And if you don't, we'll never be able to lead INTERPOL to the hideout," she thought to herself.
Grady prepared his prisoners by securing their handcuffs and chaining them to seats, then double checked on Marv, who was sleeping or unconscious.
"I'll be right back." Said Grady as he went into the cockpit to exit the plane. When he returned, there were five men with him. All were dressed for time in the jungle.
"Let's get Marv to the helicopter first. Then we can come back for those two," said Grady to the two largest men.
They nodded, and a short middle aged man supervised as a sheet was carefully placed under Marv as a makeshift stretcher. The entire group helped guide and carry him.
"It's time to go," Grady said solemnly, when he and the two big guys returned.
"Do we have a choice?" Bruce asked.
The two strangers laughed, and one said "Yeah, you can leave here conscious, or take a little nap." They unchained Bruce and Lilac, and led them to the helicopter.
Again they were blindfolded. "Is this really necessary?" Protested Bruce.
"We can't take any chances." Said Grady.
After about two hours, the helicopter landed. The blindfolds were removed, and they were left in the helicopter under guard while Grady and the middle aged man departed.
"This place is huge... like military base huge," whispered Bruce.
"No kidding. And that stone wall must be at least twenty feet tall," Lilac whispered back.
In the middle of the compound stood a large fortress like building. It was not beautiful in any way, but obviously very secure.
Grady returned, with a full complement of armed, uniformed guards.
"This way please," he said in a very civilized tone. A few of the guards looked at him with raised eyebrows.
Bruce and Lilac were escorted into the large fortress like building, which turned out to be quite comfortable and modern inside.
After a long walk, which managed to get our heroes completely lost, they finally reached a closed door. Grady knocked, and the door was opened by a uniformed guard.
"What took you so long?" Asked a woman's voice from within the room.
