Hi friends, glad to be here again, after some few days of busy engagements, i hope you all are doing find, thanks so much for keeping the #homeedders flag flying. My few experience over the weekend with the kids have laid necessity on me to share on this subject of importance, which i believe should be one of the anchor focus for the home school, for me and my children, its weekly fun as we venture into different areas of home management on a practical base.

I know that when ever this subject home Economics is being mentioned, The mind of parent begins to fly but this is simply the everyday home management, were you teach your kinds how to engage and get actively involve in home management.

  • Culinary skill development

yesterday i was talking with my children, one of them said sir, please when again should we visit floxy food, so i ask why, they said we want to know how to make pancake and zobo drink by yourself, so in promised that floxy food will be here 3 times this week from Monday to Wednesday for a culinary class, on how to make chin chin, pancake, eggroll and moi-moi.

its a sad thing that we have grown up men and ladies who are due for marriage but can not manage a home effectively, currently just within our environs, a 7 month marriage is about to break, what is the reason? the man the wife can not cook, nor take care of the house,

its is expected that while a child is growing up, He/she should have been mentored on how to handle basic home necessities like cooking, watching of cloths dully, cleaning the flour, watching dishes and also understand how to handle basic home and kitchen utensils.

  • development of personal hygiene

Few weeks ago i took some kids out, yes we had a nice time but with mixed feelings, it was only one of them out of five that could display a good eating habit, the will grab the bread, along side with the chicken, into the mouth as if there as sharing with anyone, we cajoled our self, made fund and came back then we had to seat and evaluated our self, after we had done that, we had to make a lots of corrections and then moved on, but then it a serious work at the moment because the time is late.

For those of us in the field, we experience a lots of stuffs every day, some can not take care of their teeth, when to have their bath, when to eat a particular kind of meal and what to wear, how and when to watch their under-wears.

Well cultured manners are also possibilities that is part of home economics, now we see kids not knowing how to communicate with elders, when to engage in an ongoing conversation with an elder or how to respond when questions are being asked.

I know that today the word or subject Home Economics is no longer found or heard in our environs but we will have to be deliberate and take responsibilities for them, For parents who feel that its a hard work to do all this, please i will suggest that you do one at a time, its not too late to start, i will request that you first of all start the engagement, the result will motivate you to do even more.

Once and again i want to thank all the lovers of my post, my supporters and those who have been effectively engaging me and to help me do better, the likes of #ocdd, #ocd, #homeedders #crosculture, #hivenaija #proofofbrain and many others that time will fail me to mention, i love you all, God bless you

It is an odd phenomenon how many homes seem to have moved away from teaching their children the basics of house keeping at home. I often hear purole saying how it's wiping that it isn't taught in school, but really it's always been the role of parents, so why do they want to pass the responsibility on?
