A great thing about homeschooling communities is the ability to share ideas, so it's lovely to see that @arrliinn has gained from that in our little community. This week she shares with us some of the activities they've been doing which were inspired by others in the HomeEdders community.

This week @cmplxty had a job interview and an offer of a haircut from his young son, which he decided to take him up on. While it might seem rather risky to some, it brings up the question of how soon is too soon to try doing certain things and if we should show a little more trust in our children than we might instinctively.

@sumatranate has a great conversation going on camaraderie and healthy competition. It's possibly a more relevant topic than ever with lockdowns restricting even homeschoolers’ movements. Feel free to join in with your own answers to the questions he poses:

  1. How do camaraderie and competition fall into your family's educational philosophy?
  2. Name two activities you participate in that foster camaraderie with other students.
  3. What does healthy competition look like to you?

@afterglow is facing some new challenges with school at home as his son starts his first year of school in lockdown when he'd expected to be attending school. How to keep a lone child’s interest when they'd had high hopes of being in the company of others? Does our homeschooling community have any ideas?

I enjoyed this suggested activity from @emimoron using clouds to tell stories. It's a resource available for free and stimulates creativity and expression.
