Hey guys,
This time I wanna show you how I colored some pasta using only white vinegar and food coloring.
Play and Happy, these two are the best words when Rainbow Pasta's in the house!!!

We use them for:
- fine motor skills development activities
- sensory activities
- exercising the ability to transfer
- creativity
- stringing
- imagination
- sorting
- association
The greatest joy is when my boy uses them freely, that means.....spreading them everywhere! And then for couple of days I'd collect them from all over the houseπ πͺ. Pasta snails, rifles, rolls, shells, fusilli, you can use whatever pasta you got in the kitchen cabinet!
How to color the pasta?
You only need
- food coloring
- vinegar
- pasta
- ziplock
I put 2 tablespoons of vinegar and one teaspoon of food coloring powder to about 400g of pasta. I didn't measure them exactly. Measurements for vinegar and food coloring also depend on the source of the dye (food coloring I mean).
These pastas of ours do not stain, unless they get wet. So they won't stay on your hands or on the couch, table etc.
It's VERY easy to do!
I put food coloring and vinegar together with the pasta in a zippered bag (a simple one works if you tie it) and I stirred until all the pasta was colored. I made soooo many combinations of colors over the year....:D:D
You need leave them to dry on a perchament paper as long as you consider, but one day is perfect. It depends on how much vinegar was put, the heat in the house, the pasta, etc.
Very important note: You don't want to put to much vinegar! It will destroy the pasta and make them moist and soggy. I'm sure you'll get the idea really fast! Making them once is just enough for you to know how things work.
I also made some sheets for learning activities.
We used this to color sorting and color association.
Hide and seek activity using our Colored Pasta
Sensory play. Fine motor skills. And lot of FUN ππ
Play and learn! We are looking for the caterpillar that I hid in the box with colored pastaπ
1. You can choose to hide whatever you have at hand: cubes, animals, flowers, numbers, letters, lego pieces, cars, nuts, colored pencils, etc. etc. πΌ
2. To work a little on motor skills and patience, we wrapped the hidden pieces in aluminum foil. If you don't like the idea, you can use baking paper or plain paper. I chose aluminum foil because it makes that specific sound and is somewhat different in texture, unknown to my little one
3. Hide the pieces and let the fun part begin!!!! ππ
4. On other ocassions, we hid wooden balls, letters, numbers, animal figurines, etc. My son loves to sort them on colors and lately, I noticed he likes to make flowers with them and different shapes.
If you don't have pasta, you can use instead rice, beans, corn, chickpeas, lentils, etc.
Young toddlers and are in love with this kind of activities! At least, mine definetely is!!!
These Rainbow Pasta are mostly used for Sensory Play Activities. Just a couple of days ago I wrote about Sensory Play and what is it's role in children's cognitive development.

I love colours and for the development of the senses, playing with colours in children allows them to expand their imagination and creativity.

Ohh I bet they will! Kids are very creative. They always have been!
Plus, only getting their hands in these is fun too!
Those colours are beautiful. I did colored rice once but never did it with pastas once we have some time we may give it a go it looks very fun.
Ohhh rice is my favourite! I might write a post how we did it! My child loves to play with it! It's his favourite too! But I also like pastas because they are bigger:)
