Rainbow Theme Activities for Toddlers 🌈🌈

Hello community!

My son was obsessed with rainbows or most precisely, with the colors and their order in a rainbow. He still align his toys in Rainbow colors, from Red to Purple. 🌈

And over the time, I set up for Caleb a lot of Rainbow activities in order to develop his color recognition skills, fine motor skills, logical skills etc. Pretty much what I considered to be fun and engagement on such an early age.

So here they are or at least a few of them.

Pom Pom Color Association

My son was 1yr and 10mo here.

As you can see, I printed a Rainbow color sort sheet I found online, put some pom poms in a small basket and that it. Caleb had to take all pom poms and sort them by color.

I also showed him how to work with wooden tweezers, but he wasnt interested back then. But that was not a problem. His tiny little hands did all the job and I was so proud!

Here I leave you the template I used, maybe it helps you too.

Rainbow Puzzle

This is something really easy to set up. All you need is cardboard, colors and scissors.

I dont think there's much to say here other than just my kid loved it!! It's a versatile material and children can play with it in several ways, it depends on their own creativity.

You can also paint the material together with your child and thus add more learning to this activity.
The basic thing I thought with this activity was the puzzle and kids need to develop logical skills, concentration and attention in order to finish this rainbow puzzle. Also puzzles are great for motor kills, problem solving and hand-eye coordination.

Rainbow Painting

This was one of the most favorite things my son loved to do. He still does. Coloring and painting.
There has been a lot of rainbow coloring and painting over the time.

Crepe Paper Rainbow

Fine Motor Skills at work everyone!

This was so fun to make. It's not our firt time working with crepe paper and glue. Caleb likes it and I set up this activity for him, from time to time, depending on the theme we're studying.

You need glue and crepe paper. Cut in small pieces and let the children do their job.

Told ya' my son was obsessed with rainbows. Here's how he arranged all of his colors.

Rainbow Painting Technique

This is very easy to do with little children, my son enjoyed it a lot. I'm thinking of doing this again soon.

The process is easy, as you can see in the pictures below. You need acrylic paint. Put all the colors in the middle of the page like this and then using a brush, drag the colors left and right.

Aahhhh I miss that age, too much cuteness in one spot.

I guess you didn't notice the N is backwards when you took the photos? XD

Another fun one with painting rainbows is to get a sponge, paint the rainbow on the sponge and then drag that in a line or in a rainbow shape.

Rainbows are awesome, my kids still love them though the boys are generally more interested in a scientific rather than an artistic or aesthetic point of view now XD

Thnaks for the sponge idea. 🌈
I did something similar but with ear sticks. I guess its not the same, though I'll keep it in mind for when we'll paint again this week.

Yep, well your boys are older than 4 yrs old hehe. πŸ₯°πŸ₯°

And yes LOL πŸ˜…πŸ˜… I know its backwards but my son painted the letter this way and he wouldnt let me put it right because it was unpainted on the other side. These kids...πŸ˜πŸ˜πŸ˜… he was there when I toom the photos, we were right in the middle of the activity so I had 0 chances to put it right. 😁

Yep my kids are slightly older than 4 ;D

LoL! That's really funny, your kid sounds so freaking adorable it hurts XD

Actually, I wanted to say that your kids are great with their gymnastics. When did they start with it? I'm curious to know.

Caleb is between adorable and so hard to work with sometimes. 😁

I have this theory that the cuter they are the more trouble they are XD

I think they started in 2014 (only because that's the first lot of photos that I found).

Forgot to add, they could have started as babies/toddlers had I known about the baby and toddler classes, my daughter was very miffed about that as she thinks she would have been better if she started earlier XD

I have this theory that the cuter they are the more trouble they are XD

Huh! Sometimes this is true, yeah

Thanks for the reply. I was thinking to take Caleb to gymnastics, that's why I asked you that. I need to dig in within the topic, see if there's a recomended time to begin. And from your saying, I understand there are some toddlers/babies classes. Hmmm πŸ€”
I was also thinkin swimming and I can't decide. I didnt have too because he's still little, but he's old enough to begin with something. He just turned 4, two weeks ago.

4 is an awesome age.

Both gymnastics and swimming are great because they do the entire body (there's a surprising number of sports that miss the core). So is dance while I think about it. If you go far enough with gymnastics and dance it is pretty hard on your body so there is also that to consider. If you're doing anything that's hard on muscles like that I recommend balancing it out with tai chi or yoga (which does the ligaments and tendons, the sports I'm familiar with don't develop them along with the muscles).

Whatever decision you make doesn't have to be for life ;D try out a few things and see what you both like if you're not sure :)

It's always surprising to see so many different activities you find to do with your little one. Really amazing and inspiring for many moms out there! :)

Thank you, you're so kind saying this! πŸ’™
You know I do my best with what time, patience and mood I have. 😁
But I know I could be do much more in the prsent. I'm struggling to get into a routine and have a program or something..

He can be an artist 😊.. Btw, did he ever ask why there is a rainbow? Hehe.. Sure you know the answer..

Well, being only 4, he knows a little of the Scince behind it and how rainbows appear on the sky. That would be that sunlight pass through the raindrops.
And very often I told him that when outside is both rain and sun, we should expect a rainbow. Also immediatly after the rain, if sun comes up on the sky, is very possible to see it.

Wow .he's smart 😁

Well, its an easy explination accorsing to his age and his level of understanding things. But thanks, he is indeed a fast learner. 😁

Oh, my daughter would love this. She likes rainbow colors. 😍
I hope I can be as creative as you when it comes to creating activities for fun and learning. ☺️

Glad you find it useful for you and your baby girl. Also thanks for the compliment, when I dont have enough imagination for learning activities, I try google some on the internet.

Google helps a lot as well. ☺️
You're welcome. ☺️

I know it does. 😁

That’s amazing! I wish I would have done much more of such activities with my daughter πŸ’š

Thank you ❀
I try my best according with what I know and how much time I have..
But I hear you. Sometimes I'm thinking I could have done more myself..

Thanks!! 😁
I've been thinking of you since yesterday. Big big time! Your last recipe is....wow! I wanted to try it today but I didnt have butter and raisins at home. I am in Timisoara right now and I told myself from home that my main purpose is to go to auchan and buy what I dont have to try your recipe.πŸ˜πŸ˜πŸ˜…

Lol, I knew you would like it as it's your kind of recipe 😍. Definitely buy raisins and I'd say chop a bit off of sugar, as raisins are sweet anyway. 280g instead of 300g, or even 250g if you don't need very sweet biscuits. This is a very good recipe and I'm telling you without exaggeration. I hope you like it 😏

Β last yearΒ (edited)Β

Good to know, I'll keep it in mind. I bought all ingredients. 😁

I often cut some of the sugar from the recipe I'm trying because I know all these recipes are sweet. Also, my mom's recipes. I only use half or 3/4 of the sugar quantity in her recipes because I already know they are too sweet.

I'll let you know how they turn out. ❀

Congratulations your publication has been chosen among the best of the day.

What a beautiful and colorful activity for the creative, motor and intellectual development of the little ones at home.

Greetings and blessings.

Thank you! Rainbows are colorful already so its great for activities.

Blessings for you too.

Thanks for this activity that is very interesting and entertaining for the little ones, with it they can develop their visual memory, concentration and the association is very interesting.

You're welcome, glad you find it useful.

The association of colors helps a lot not only to concentration, memory but also to develop creativity. It is a fun and very exciting strategy for children that can be applied from the youngest to the oldest. Congratulations

Agree 100%. Thank you for stopping by, I hope you are ok. Its been some time since you last posted in the community. πŸ€—
