This time I want to bring you in a wild imagination in the world of poetry. If this is new to you, well you are lucky to read my post because I will assure you, you are going to love this! Let's take it to another level to make it artistic. I would like to introduce you to Black-out poetry. Today, we are going to have a free verse poem with at least 1-2 lines because I want to teach first the basic ones. This is a way where you are going to remove the words out from the sentences or paragraphs by covering them with black. You will choose your own words and create something meaningful poem. This challenges your creative writing skills.
By using a permanent marker, the words that you will not be covered and invisible. In this case, there are few words were remain uncovered and they will give emphasis to your poem. This can create relief from stress too. There are many creative ways to make but I would love to show you the easiest and simplest form of blackout poetry.

He began to embrace and transformed his life to their world.
The following are the easy guide on making black-out poetry:
1. You must have a page of the book, If you don't want to waste the page, you can search online some sample articles or stories and print them. You need to carefully skim the words from the page you are reading, this kind of process in reading will help you to create a general idea or view of the theme that you want to present.
2. This time, you are going to choose word(s) or phrase(s) to create an idea. You will find it a little bit tricky because you have to make sure that once you combined all together it will give a sense of thought. Use a marker to circle or box the words you choose.
3. Create a bold outline on each side as your guide when you start shading it with a black marker.
4. Start shading the words or sentences that you will not use. Stroking of the marker is very important to create consistency of the lines on the paper. You don't have to shade it so hard for you not to tear the page.

He was very strong, prepared and so great.
For the next design, here are the steps:
1. Draw a small circle in the middle and fully cover the whole surface with black. Then add a design to add beauty in the center. You have many options for types of lines. You can have the spiral, curved, dashed, and more. From the picture, I used the zigzag lines.
2. After drawing the zigzag lines, make another circle that is bigger than the middle part, and in the same process, use a permanent marker to cover the page. For the next line, I chose the wiggle lines.
3. My first idea will be a flower but I changed it into a sun. For the sun rays, it's very easy, draw straight lines and start styling the rays according to what you prefer. Be careful because you might cover the box words because I almost did it too but luckily it was fine.
I would love to see how you find and create your own black-out poem. For those poets out there, this can be a new idea for you to make an ingenious poem and for the beginners, well this is a good starter for you. I will be blogging soon more in English Literature (Poetry and Prose). Thank you.
