Buenas noches, estimada comunidad. Espero que se encuentren muy bien, recargados de energía positiva. Cuando era pequeña recuerdo que me compraban relojes digitales porque no sabía leer las agujas. A mí no me importaba el tiempo, era una niña que disfrutaba de su infancia, no entendía qué era eso de los segundos, minutos y horas. ¿Mamá, cuánto son quince minutos?, era una pregunta frecuente porque cuando era de noche, ella me decía: “En 15 minutos vengo a apagar el televisor para que te acuestes a dormir”. Así que el indicador de ese período temporal era su presencia en la puerta de la habitación. De allí, me dio mucha curiosidad cómo funcionaba el reloj y por qué no tiene la capacidad de retroceder. El tiempo es indetenible.
¿Por qué es importante saber leer las agujas del reloj? Parece una pregunta sencilla, pero realmente el tiempo hasta se ha convertido en un asunto filosófico. Cuando un niño aprende a leer el tiempo, empieza a tener autonomía, a organizarse, a adquirir responsabilidad, puede determinar el tiempo del que dispone para hacer las tareas o jugar. Lo cual resulta beneficioso para la construcción y consolidación de su personalidad.
En esta oportunidad, mi aprendiz y ayudante fue Sara, ella conocía algunas nociones básicas con respecto a la hora, sin embargo, al pedirle que me dijera qué hora era, dudaba al tratar de leer las agujas. Este aprendizaje puede ser complicado al principio, ya que hay que detallar cómo se dividen las horas y los minutos, lo cual puede ser difícil de entender. De hecho, en los ojos de la niña se notaba que estaba confundida, sin embargo, seguía atenta a la explicación.
Good evening, dear community. I hope you are very well, recharged with positive energy. When I was little I remember that they bought me digital watches because I didn't know how to read the hands. I didn't care about time, I was a girl who enjoyed her childhood, I didn't understand what those seconds, minutes and hours were. Mom, how long is fifteen minutes? It was a frequent question because when it was night, she told me: "In 15 minutes I'll come to turn off the television so you can go to sleep." So the indicator of that time period was his presence at the door of the room. From there, I became very curious how the clock works and why it doesn't have the ability to go back. Time is unstoppable.
Why is it important to know how to read the hands of the clock? It seems like a simple question, but actually time has even become a philosophical issue. When a child learns to read the time, he begins to have autonomy, to organize himself, to acquire responsibility, he can determine the time he has to do homework or play. Which is beneficial for the construction and consolidation of your personality.
On this occasion, my apprentice and assistant was Sara, she knew some basic notions regarding the time, however, when I asked her to tell me what time it was, she hesitated when trying to read the hands. This learning can be tricky at first, as you have to spell out how the hours and minutes are divided, which can be difficult to understand. In fact, in the girl's eyes you could see that she was confused, however, she was still attentive to the explanation.
Mi intención era que esta experiencia no se convirtiera en una actividad desagradable, por lo que realizamos nuestro propio reloj. Para lo cual usamos lo siguiente:

- Cartón
- Foami (Naranja y azul)
- Silicón líquido
- Pintura blanca
- Marcador negro
- Tijera
- Tuerca con rosca
My intention was that this experience would not become an unpleasant activity, so we made our own clock. For which we use the following:
Materials and instruments
- Paperboard
- Foami (Orange and blue)
- Liquid silicone
- White paint
- Black marker
- Scissors
- Nut with thread
Utilizamos un plato como patrón y recortamos un círculo de cartón. Luego, hicimos lo mismo en un pedazo de foami naranja y lo pegamos para dar mayor estabilidad. Dividimos doce espacios iguales y con un marcador negro Sara hizo los números.
We use a plate as a pattern and cut out a cardboard circle. Then, we did the same thing on a piece of orange foam and glued it to give it more stability. We divided twelve equal spaces and with a black marker Sara made the numbers.
Posteriormente, con la ayuda de una tapa de un frasco, marcamos y recortamos doce círculos pequeños en foami azul, aquí Sara marcó los números de cinco en cinco (del 5 al 60), los cuales indican los minutos a los que corresponde. Estos se colocarán en la parte exterior del reloj para hacer más fácil la lectura.
Later, with the help of a jar lid, we marked and cut out twelve small circles in blue foami, here Sara marked the numbers five by five (from 5 to 60), which indicate the corresponding minutes. These will be placed on the outside of the clock to make reading easier.
Recortamos dos flechas, una pequeña que indica la hora y la otra más larga para señalar los minutos, las pintamos de blanco. Luego, gracias a una idea de mi esposo, las unimos a la estructura redonda con un tornillo de tuerca, lo cual me pareció muy práctico.
We cut two arrows, a small one that indicates the hour and the other longer to indicate the minutes, we painted them white. Then, thanks to an idea of my husband, we attached them to the round frame with a screw nut, which I found very practical.
Una vez que quedó listo, le solicité a la pequeña que marcara varias horas girando las flechas, con cada ejercicio se notaba que retenía la información. Me parece importante que los niños se familiaricen con el manejo del tiempo para que asocien los momentos del día con las actividades rutinarias.

Once it was ready, I asked the little girl to mark several hours turning the arrows, with each exercise it was noticeable that she retained the information. I think it is important that children become familiar with time management so that they associate the times of the day with routine activities.

I think DIY Crafts that has additional purposes like this Clock, are very very effective.
When kids create it, a lot of explenations are given and they can understand better that specific thing. So other than buying this, its a great idea to do it at home together.

It is a very well done work. I think that learning the time and especially making a clock as you have done is a very useful strategy for children to learn about numbers and why not even the value of time.
