Learning To Write

in Home Edders3 years ago

Robbie is learning to write. For a child who has sensory issues, handwriting can be a challenge. He started schooling at Kg1, We needed to practice and encourage him with his handwriting skills. Teaching him with a proper grip of the pencil, lots of encouragement and fun ways, writing can be a little easier and more fun.

Whenever or wherever there is a time we are practicing to write, it gains him confidence when he accomplished a task, and the more he is eager to try to continue with other letters.

With resources like tracing sheets, starting with basic lines is one of his favorite tools for writing, gently encourage him to stay on the line.

It is important to practice writing regularly if possible, as the saying goes "Practice makes it perfect". It will help them improve and get confident at writing. There are numerous fun ways that can help a child to write.

Writing in a salt tray is really fun.

It provides a sensory activity and offers correct movement of the hand.

Finger paint or Write and wipe alphabet book is a great materials, too.

Playing with playdough is our favorite activity in exercising our fine motor skills. It strengthens the little muscles in his hand by squishing, rolling, cutting and building from it. A creative and fun play anytime of the day.

I think we have the same book for the little ones and their learning letters!

We haven’t tried the salt method but it’s easy and very inexpensive so I think we will try it tomorrow!

One thing that’s banned in our house is kinetic sand lol we have carpet so it got stuck and took forever to come out! Play dough is welcome though. We have to stock up on more, our son loves it but tends to forget it and leave it out. The real sand is the best though!

I agree, Kenetic sand with carpet is a No no. gives headache to clean. Kenetic sand is okay without carpet. I remove all our carpet for my SPD child.

Thank you for dropping by.

Yeah, that activity book is one we do almost every night as a way to help improve his letters! He loves it and for us it's great because it's consolidated to what we need to teach him, right in the same book. There's another book we have that is for helping teach him to read but it looks intense so we haven't broached that one yet lol
