HANDMADE NIGHT LAMP FOR MY SON'S ROOM

in Home Edders2 years ago (edited)

DIY-lesson for my son + a nice practical usage of well-known things.

So how to make a cool night lamp having only 2 simple items that can be found in any house?
Many kids are afraid to sleep in the total darkness, especially if they have just begun to sleep alone in their room without Mum nearby.
This problem can be solved by having a nice night lamp. And if a kid does it by himself, he will have special attitude to it, he will take it as something very important and beloved because it's his protection from nightmares.
You can even create a story what this night lamp is, how it works, and what magical functions it has:)

So we need just:

  • a bottle
  • a garland
  • we take paints and brushes to decorate the bottle but you can miss this step

So my boy was welcome to create anything he wanted by himself.
He decided to draw some houses, and lights of garland would be stars in the night sky.
A nice idea!

Painting on a bottle was something new, unusual and very inspiring. Of course, it is not a sheet of paper, and it was much harder, but it was interesting.

Then we put our garland inside and the magical fairytale appeared!
It really looked like night sky with starts that were shining in the darkness, and these houses were like a pretty small village somewhere in the magical land;)

In the total darkness this night lamp really looks perfect! I even wanted to ask my boy to make one more for our bedroom with my hubby, he is an experienced master now, so he had to succeed the second time too;)

And yeah!
These small lights and our story about magical stars in the bottle worked fine, and my boy sleeps much better now without awful mosters from the darkness;)

What a practical and innovative idea to brighten up the environment and give your boy the security he needs in the dark. Congratulations, very good idea. I really liked the effect shown in the last picture.
Cheers!

thank you!!
I like the effect too;)

I love your imagination, I think my son will love it if I make one (^_^)

nono, do it together, then he will like it for sure;)

Okay, thank you for the heads-up (^_^)

Very cool, and it reminds me of a few leftover bottles I have (and a garland I only need to buy batteries for). Thanks for the inspiration!

leftover bottles? are they handmade too?:)

Lol, I now see how weird that sounds :) haha
No, it's like this, like 1,5 years ago, I bought 6 bottles at a supermarket thinking I'd go and make stuff in the kitchen and could use to store it in there. But then these bottles were never used until the point that last year before X-mas, I started to paint one of them so that at least one was used (haha).
This idea of yours is much better though with lights. Will do that this week :)

ah yeah, it's about me, I can be very inspired by some ideas and even will buy something for them but then....no time, no wish or something else, and then, in many months I can find it all again with a great surprise:]]]]

:) I can relate lol. So many things in my closets waiting for me to create something lol
