MY UNSCHOOLING: Development of interhemispheric interaction (exercises)

in Home Edders2 years ago

Do you use both of your hemispheres? And your kid?

If you wanna avoid any problems with memory, speech, writing, using logical thinking or creativity, or you wanna correct some disadvantages, then you can use easy exercises.

How and why to develop interhemispheric connections?

The human brain consists of two hemispheres: left and right.
Sometimes left hemisphere functions better, someotimes - the right one, and the ideal option is when both hemispheres of the brain function well.

The left hemisphere thinks logically, the right hemisphere thinks creatively.
It is clear that a person needs both of them. Therefore, it is desirable to develop interhemispheric connections. The better interhemispheric connections are developed, the higher the child's intellectual development, memory, attention, speech, imagination, thinking and perception will be.

Moreover, these exercises bring a lot of fun!

Just try to use both of your hands simultaneously! 😃

I wrote some pages of training for my son.
He had to write using both of his hands.
He is a left-hander, so it was a hard task for his right hand;)

and he had to do almost the same but this time it was a picture

it seems to be easy but in fact it requires great concentration and attention. And yes, our second hand that is not leading feels really strange, and you feel how your brain starts working harder;)

Do you use such exercises, guys?

Sort:

It’s probably like patting your head and rubbing your stomach. Not easy but manageable! It’s definitely important and good to exercise both sides of the brain. Just like any muscle it needs to change and get altered to grow. We are great at repetition but changing it up is how we learn a lot!

yeaah!;)) we had this fun at school too:) and most kids failed, it's really not so easy;)
but then we just had fun doing it, now it has its scientific name and explanation how it works and why:)

Blessings! I think this is an ideal strategy to improve fine motor skills, I have a nephew with autism and in his therapies he always used to draw lines because it also helps him to improve his ability to concentrate and memorize.

yeah, motor skills are very important for all kids, and I know cases when "special" kids feel much better and live ordinary life after using some of such effective techniques

I usually just have my kid look left and right several times stimulate her left and right hemispheres. We learned that from one of the episodes of Brain Child. Really helps a lot in solving puzzles. But this is a must try exercise! I will definitely give this one a try.

just turn a head and look left and right?

Just moving her eyes left and right. She feels silly doing it but it kinda works. Haha

Great idea, I had never tried this.

will you?:)

On my to-do list, but no guarantee :)

Hi @taliakerch, very good activity to develop interhemispheric interaction. Certainly moving both hands simultaneously is difficult, and exercising both hemispheres of the brain has many benefits, certainly the benefits are greater if we do it from an early age, thanks for sharing these activities.

not at all!
I like easy but effective exercises;)

This really develops concentration hehe.

Excellent strategy. I will try at home to apply it to my oldest daughter.
