We are finally getting caught up on the queue of accounts. Currently the total of requests stands at 508. When Hive launched, we were the only onboarding service open at the outset and took on a lot of requests. We were originally overwhelmed by these requests from confused users who thought they had to register a whole new account to participate in Hive. Those are tapering off and we are meeting our 72 hour goal as of last night.

I'm also both happy and sad to say that yesterday we intercepted an ID theft attempt. The victim was a lady that writes a 'mom' blog elsewhere. The attempt was not successful and the account was never made. If it had been successful, the victim, who is very diligent about how her online persona is represented, would've been highly affected.

Several other ID deception attempts (not involving any identities of existing people) were also halted.

Because of the threat of ID theft, we are being extra careful with accounts where the social media link belongs to a woman but there is no clear "HIVE ACCOUNT APPLICANT" label or other modes of proof. Traditionally, most ID theft and ID deception we've dealt with as part of Hivewatchers (former Steemcleaners) and Spaminator have been of female victims.

That being said, there is no need to worry. Hive.Blue is run by two people who know exactly how fraud and exploitation works on Hive: myself and @patrice. If someone malicious gets past us and becomes on-boarded, we will gladly handle their de-boarding through Spaminator.

cool to know who is working behind the scenes on this! Thanks for catching the thief.

Thank you both for your awesome contribution to Hive! You're doing amazing work and you should be very proud!!!

Hive on:-)

Much appreciation to you for what you're doing! We have a great opportunity here to "get it right" from the start... and it's good to know that someone is working behind the scenes.

Thank you!
