I think this is going to be the new buzzword going forward.

I do think that schadenfreude is one of the lowliest form of human emotions, and I am proud to say that I almost never get pleasure in seeing other people fail. Norwegians in generally exhibit a pretty high degree of it, and it even got a name: The Law of Jante.

However, in these dire Corona times, which is still predominantly a societal crisis I can not help but feeling a little bit of it.

As a free market advocate, it of course bothers me a little that the by far richest people are hypocritical.
Among the worst is Petter Stordalen, a hotel mogul, which is also extremely political correct and wants to "save the environment" while driving a private jet and living an extravagant private life, while preaching other people to live minimalist. His ex-wife (which I studied with) is behind Eat, where you are not allowed to eat meat anymore: https://eatforum.org/

Gladly, and I say, gladly as in schadenfreude he is severely hit by the crisis. His hotels are not doing that good, his airlines company is on the ground and his newest acquisition, Ving, a travel company, do not have any travelers.

He is of course complaining about this in the media: https://e24.no/naeringsliv/i/zGjOb4/taper-250-millioner-i-maaneden

But, hey, if you really like to reduce C02 emissions and "save the earth", nothing is better than owning hotels without guests, an airlines company on the ground or a travel company without travelers.

Congrats, your hypocritical attitude paid of Petter, you are now best in class in reducing C02 and saving the planet.

Do not complain, celebrate! #coronakarma

At least they get to save costs by having the government pay for the people that they øst off temporarily.

No worries... He will be bailed out and make trillions of this. They are printing unlimited, vast, endless quantities of paper Money for these poor Billionaires

Yeah, you are probably right. And why do we pay taxes when they can just print up a gazillionfantazillion in the quadripillionth of a second?
