I'm smiling — almost chuckling — right now. My uncle, who I’m sure knows that tomorrow I’m counting another spin around the sun, sent me an audio message to let me know he’s deployed his youngest son for a special delivery.
“What is it?” I ask, sincerely.
“Broiled chicken,” he replies, feeling accomplished.

You see, there’s definitely a version of me who would have been disappointed with such a gift. But this middle-aged version of me? I’m delighted. The first thing I thought was how I don’t have to cook tomorrow — and how a whole chicken might even last me two days. That’s winning these days, and I’m not being ridiculous.
My dear wife asks what the plan is for tomorrow.
“What do you want to do?” she says.
I know she means it from the bottom of her heart, but all I can think about is how we can’t get too sloppy — not when we’re so close to the dawn. At least, I hope we are.
But hey, once a year isn’t going to hurt us either. So tomorrow, I might be a little more offline than usual, as we take our two doggies — “the girls,” as we call them — to the beach to run around a bit. You have no idea how much joy it gives me to see our dogs happy — a shot of oxytocin straight into my brain.
With all that said, today I hit the ground running and woke up early to work on 3Speak and Snapie. I built a second uploading system — a parallel option to the simplified upload flow — to give us a choice of UX. Complete flexibility was the theme of the morning. After making some food and having a productive conversation with Eddie, I jumped into building Snapie.io’s blog composer. Whatever I get working there can also be used for the new 3Speak frontend — so it’s a double win.
All in all, productive day… happy day.
How can I not be happy? I got some coding done and a whole chicken to close the day.
If that’s not winning, then I don’t know what is.
