Hi there my Hivean friends and followers!
After many long months and just out of curiosity, I visited the trending page on Steemit today to see what is happening there. Of course I had no illusions but what I found out after just a short scroll was quite shocking for me.
First, about 90% of the posts featured on the trending page are written in Korean and Chinese. Sorry, rest of the world! :D
Second, many of the posts actually look like this:
Yep. A post of literally just a few words (I guess) with a $400 payout. To be fair, I should add that some of the posts are a bit longer, consisting of 2 or even 3 (:D) paragraphs but the payouts of them all are in the 3 figure range...
As I said, I had no illusions about how things are on the old chain but honestly, I was not expecting this... I mean if you look at the trending page of Hive, you will find everything there - from top notch travel reports, thorough game reviews, extraordinary photo collections, excellent free writes on all kinds of topics, inspiring charity initiatives, valuable crypto posts, great artsy stuff, epic intros of newbies etc. etc. etc.
The trending page is the first thing that people from the outside world get to see and if you compare ours and that of Steem, there is no way someone could pick the latter to sign up for. The quality of what is created on our chain and over there is absolutely beyond comparison.
I don´t know who is still buying Steem to keep the price so inappropriately high (I have my tip though, Justin) but it obviously is unsustainable and must be only a matter of time before Hive beats Steem on every single level possible, including the price and the market cap. Cannot wait for it ;)

Hello friend @phortun, time without coming to your blog, your appreciation about steemit is very accurate and I have seen it because I have also taken a walk there. If here in our beloved hive there is quality and a lot, we must continue to support it so that they do not migrate as we do in Venezuela in search of sustenance. Thanks for your feedback :) I have nothing against the Chinese and the Koreans at all, this is just a little reflection on how things are on Steem compared to how we do it here on Hive. I mean we have great Chinese and Korean authors here on Hive. It´s not about where people are from, it´s about what they do on the chain ;)

I get the exact same feeling when I rarely visit Steem and I agree with your comparison, though obviously Hive also has its share on ridiculous payouts but definitely (and fortunately) not even close to Steem's which looks like the definition of a bubble.
Good point. I am not saying Hive is 100% perfect. We still have a lot to work on but compared to what is happening over there, we are doing really good ;)

Yes, I heard that. I sometimes check the price of Steem to see if it´s tanking already. Not yet. But it must happen soon :D
Thanks for writing this, I am new to crypto, hive-blockchain, and tokenized social media as of this past February, I’m sad that I missed all the drama, but I’m also very thankful that the podcasts and people who encouraged me to join hive, really hit the bullseye.
Don´t be sad about missing those crazy times before the fork, it was actually quite nerve wrecking for many of us. Extremely uncertain and exhausting period of time. But it all turned out great and here we are, enjoying this lovely place called Hive :) Welcome btw!
I was never on STEEM but it is ridiculous if its worth $400 for a short post. Also wtf is the new tag community? I don't understand it anymore.

Don´t ask me, I don´t understand most of the current Steem stuff :D Hard to believe it once was what Hive is now to us...

Still, I am surprised they managed to keep Hive so low so long;
Totally unsustainable in my opinion... The staggering difference between these two chains and communities must be reflected in the price too, soon or later...
