This week's contest took an interesting turn with each entry coming in strong and leading the story in different directions. I wont pretend I didn't love the direction all of you took! We are at a crossroads in our tale and the winner of this week's contest will have moved our story in an entirely new direction. With entries from three authors who entered in previous weeks and a new author joining in this week for the first time we continue to expand the world of the Pizza Baron!

@jesustiano took us to the Casino Baron's lands in Salzburg Germany after the rider informed our beloved Pizza Baron that there is an olive garden there.

@onewolfe took it upon themselves to prove poor Barry's innocence and revealed to us that the Pizza Baron's agent in the Oil Baron's household is a woman who so far remains unsuspicious!

@wrestlingdesires revealed a key advantage- the Pizza Baron has access to computers, networking and weather satellites, and directed our attention to Italy where there are still olives to be harvested!

@an-man introduced us to "The Smelt" the Pizza Baron's most trusted spy, a slippery fish who brought news of a rival baron also exploring the power of Pizza, one who's reach extends to spices and herbs beyond the reach of Danny.

While I felt all four entries had strengths and weaknesses, I can only pick one as the winner!
@wrestlingdesires takes the victory this week. He took us on an interesting journey, making us feel sorry for Barry even though we know he betrayed the Pizza Baron and revealed that the Pizza Baron has a distinct advantage over his rivals. We also learned he has contact with far off parts of the world and the ability to trade internationally. This opens all kinds of doors for the storyline going forward and still makes sense in the context of our tale! Other entries moved us in a similar direction but didn't provide the context for how this could be accomplished in our post apocalyptic world!
I still feel the other entries were strong again this week and will be sending 5 PIZZA to each of you as well!

:) Well i tried to get into the story line xD THe sat's are gonna be a nightmare to include and use properly :D
Not really :) ... In any world depending on the old ways, weather is a huge factor.

The satelites works really badly, to be precise, people do not get how they work, I studied them during my career on maths, and worked on one personally at a point in my life. Weather sats needs a lot more that just "some random" antena and electicity to be able to work, one single sat needs about 300 to more devices maded to maintain it fliying, why do you think there is so much space garbage?
That is why I will ignore the idea, venezuela is an example of that, to keep 2 sats on orbit, they had to create about 15 diferent facilitys and burn about 250 millons of dollars, even i got to work on one of those facilitys... That is why i know how hard is to keep one sat working, they depent a lot of a interweb of sats, once you gone one sat working, addign another is a walk in the park, but decades after a complete apocalypse, there is no way sats are working, if they spent 3 months willout being watched they would fall out of orbit, that is a know fact, solar winds are a pain in the arse.
Still is a great idea, but is really complicated to add it on a fantasy novel. It totally breaks "factibility" The casino i added was just named as a german casino, but is not located on germany, there is one casino with that name in atlanta xD So is to be expected that people dont get it. But sat's gonna be a pain to work out in the novel, especially willout servers and a world wide network of interconectivity with them.
I'll have to think of something! Could take a few days, lol!
We will get it figured out! I wrote my piece this week without having read this but it is good info to have. I think it's important we keep an open mind to what is possible in our fantasy setting and not get too bogged down in those details! I'm sometimes guilty of it myself and admit that part of the reason I struggled to connect with your piece this week was that I thought you had sent Otto off to Salzburg Germany, not a casino in Atlanta! It goes to show that some things need clarity while others can be left more vague. I found it far harder to accept that he had traveled so far (to Germany) in a world with limited travel than I did that a few satellites might still be online.
It may well be that because of your experience with satellites you see it the other way around and that just shows how important perspective is in this world!
As it is we've made contact with an Italian Baron who has access to Olives, a vital piece of our Supreme Pizza Puzzle, and another segment of our tale yet to come!

I'm glad @dibblers.dabs figured it out :) I had no idea they were so much trouble to maintain! It must have been fascinating?
It was not, i did calculus on the orbits mostly, the computer did the math and i prepared the data, the most boring job of my life XD

There's room in our tale for a little technical or historical inaccuracy here and there! Everyone that has been writing has been bringing a lot to the table and it has been tough to judge each week! If it really gets popular I might need help reading and judging them all or will need to open up a voting mechanism or something! Keep up the great work both of you!

To be able to connect with a sat it would have to be sincro orbit, and that would be insane xD, but more plausible, i think i can work it out for the next chapter based on it xD
