On Wednesday I wasn’t moving too fast. I’d been short on sleep for too long. I didn’t get up until 5AM and just worked on my post until my #2 intern arrived at 6:45AM. I was just finishing it.
I had decided I just wasn’t up to moving plants but I did want to get the Juneberries harvested. So we went out and did that.
She cleaned them up while I got ready to go shopping. Tom’s birthday brunch is this weekend and my contribution is a fruit salad. So we were going to see what we could find.

We got the fruit put away when we got home and she headed out. I went in to see if I could find a Juneberry recipe that didn’t leave the seeds in. While I was doing that my general helper got up and we decided to freeze the Juneberries as there weren’t enough yet to do a recipe.
I was out of celery salt so we decided to make that.
The wildfire smoke had made a red sun for the last few days and it was particularly bad in the morning on Wednesday.
Once the celery salt was done, she wanted to edit her photos and I went to read on the couch about 10AM. I woke up around 2PM and we made some lunch.
The smoke was to get much worse in the afternoon. We are the red dot.
The big zucchini she found on Tuesday made enough zoodles for both of us. We added some meatballs from the freezer, my spaghetti sauce, and Parmesan cheese.
She got packed up and left to go to a potluck before she had to head back to Boston. I wasn’t feeling too bad after my nap and I had a movie come in at the library so I went and got it. I found a Mitch Albom book I hadn’t read that was on the free table.
So I came home with those. I sat and rested a while then made supper. I had found the best corn in the valley at the co-op earlier and picked up some lasagna there too. So I had corn on the cob and lasagna for supper.
I watched my movie and decided to not open the house up due to the heavy smoke. It was to be cool during the night and I wouldn’t have had to run the ACs but the smoke is too much.
On Thursday my #2 intern will be here at 6:30AM and we intend to move the plants to the new garden. In the afternoon, my #4 helper will be here at 1:30PM. I’m thinking we will start cleaning the pantry. We’ll see…

That's a ton of smoke from satellite
I just posted a photo of the smoke and saw another one from the midWest in another post. Its really bad across alot of the country right now. Fun making the zoodles. We always have some spaghetti squash and do the same thing. Best in late summer when we have tomatoes and all the fresh ingredents for sauce (we freeze some also).
There's a big fire up at the top of the Idaho panhandle, and wind has shifted to bring smoke toward everyone generally south of there in the Spokane/Coeur d'Alene region. Several smaller fires have started, too. Fire danger is high, and the dry winter left us in a tinderbox.
So not good! Sure hope you are all safe out there...
