Every year they are prolific, providing us many pounds of figs every season.
This year we have already harvested over 55 pounds of figs. And that doesn't even include all of those that we ate while harvesting.
One of the great beauties of this crop is that it takes very little attention, other than summer water and a bit of a trim to keep them healthy.
They keep giving their tender, juicy sweetness day after day after day, and simply fall of the branch into our hands, ripe and ready to be eaten.
We will make great use of this amazing fruit,
dehydrating them,
turning them into vinegar,
creating one-of-a kind jams/jellies/spreads,
freezing them for smoothies,
flavoring our drinking water,
infusing liquor,
making wine (check out @quinneaker's post/series about this process) ,
and today we even put some in our grilled cheese sandwiches!
Everyday we are blessed with abundance. Nature is simply the best. We take care of her, she takes care of us!
