It's a new month and the start of a new season. Here in the south we're seeing signs of spring and new life. Are you seeing the approach of autumn in the north? I'm hoping the cooler weather means we'll be seeing more garden and homestead posts on Hive as you come in from the cold. 😉
Things happening in the community.
There are lots of writing prompts on the go in the communities at the moment, if you're needing some inspiration. All are welcome to give them a go. @ecotrain has the question of the week which asks our thoughts on why computer games are often based on violence and an impromptu pop up question asks if there are things we can do differently so that people can understand us better.
We are in the second week of the @naturalmedicine challenge which is 'anything goes', in conjunction with Twitter promotion.
@HomeEdders is asking how do you educate? This is open to anyone and even if your children have finished their education years we'd still love to hear about how you approached their education, what worked for you and why.
Then let's not forget, it's the beginning of a new month, so it's once again time to look back at last month in the garden for @simplymike's community garden challenge.

So much specialist food for specific diets available at the supermarkets are full of preservatives and ingredients which can trigger health issues; which is ironic considering many people turn to these diets for health reasons in the first place. If you love your cheese, but can't eat dairy, @amy-goodrich has a solution with this homemade vegan cheese.
While we may love the idea of homesteading as an idyllic lifestyle, sometimes we need a reminder of just how busy this lifestyle can get. @flemingfarm has just that reminder for us!

I definitely do need to make some more gardening posts... but time!
Just a couple of "administrative" points regarding @naturalmedicine: A few moments ago when I tried to load the naturalmedicine.io front end I got an error message that the domain has expired... not sure what that's about, but those hosts usually give a grace period.
Also, when using hive-engine and clicking on the "info" next to the LOTUS token, you get the information popup box, but if you click on the naturalmedicine.io link it actually has an extra set of characters in there, relating to Hive-Engine, causing a broken link. Not sure if you guys can update that, or it's a Hive-Engine issue... but it might get some new users if it were fixed!

No worries — I figured it was probably just an expired card on file type thing; I'd just hate to see a wonderful community lose part of itself due to something so simple. As a keeper of many web sites, I know how easy it is for "little stuff" to slip through the cracks...

Yeah, I know how this stuff sneaks up; I just renewed my driver's license which expired three days ago... on my birthday. Sorry to hear your card got frauded... hopefully you didn't have to go through the whole "identity theft" hassle?
The Hive-Engine issue (I think, because I have seen it with other communities) is most likely just a fragment of what was already IN the input box when someone entered the URL, and it all got appended together.

I hope to make time for posting a response to the @homeedders question. We certainly have had an interesting run with our kids out of school for nearly 6+ months.
I’ve been gardening more now that the weather is milder and playing kitchen witch with all the herbs I’ve been using to make tonics, tinctures, elixirs and oxymels. I’m welcoming autumn with a big hug in my homestead!
