A house on stilts in Gampong Paya Meuligoe Mosque Hamlet, Peureulak District, East Aceh was burnt down on Tuesday (6/30/2020).
Peureulak Police Chief AKP Pidinal Limbong said the burning house belonged to the family of Ramli Bin Syahrih (58).
The fire accident, he said, occurred at around 5:05 WIB. The incident began when Ramli came out of the house to find wood bran on furniture not far from his home.
"At the time of the incident, at home the victim's child was named Mawaddah (16). He was sleeping in his room, "AKP Pidinal said.
The fire, he continued, was first known by the victim's neighbor.
"The witness told the victim, then the victim returned to the house and saw that the fire had lit in the ceiling of the house that was powered by electricity," he said.
The victim's child inside the house survived after jumping from the window.
Construction of houses made of wood and the speed of the wind makes the fire easily scorch all buildings and their contents.
"The fire was extinguished 20 minutes later after a Peureulak fire unit arrived at the location. The blackout process was assisted by Peureulak police officers from nearby residents, "he said.
The police, he said, are still investigating the cause of the fire. "The loss is estimated at around Rp. 150 million, "he said.
