$1 Billion Donation to Indian Covid relief fund

For the last many hours the (crypto) internet is on fire with the news of Vitalik's donation of $1 Billion USD which is 6000 crores INR at the time of writing. This is also equivalent of 236,465.2815 Ethereum.

What can be bought with this much funds ?

Lets take a pulse oximeter which is 2495 INR ($33.9) as available on Amazon.in

So, it can get 2,66,39,402 pulse oximters

Vaccine

The vaccines are priced arbitarily based on whether one buying the vaccine is central government, state government or a citizen. Lets put a price tag of INR 350 for the sake of calculation.

66465309149.57/350.00 = 18,99,00,883.2845

That is this amount of sufficient to vaccinate approximately 15% of the Indian citizens.

What exactly has happened ?

SHIBA INU (SHIB) is a coin created very recently and the creators "vested" half of the total supply with Vitalik Buterin (co-founder of Ethereum blockchain) for perhaps marketing purposes. He has donated the funds to a group or individuals operating India Covid-Crypto fund.

However this is quite unclear whether the relief fund will be able to use it, ie there may not enough liquidity to sell all this tokens and use it for any meaningful purpose.

With literally 1 or 2 crytpo exchanges and unclear future of cryto currencies in India, this may however turn out to be a good educational effort for policy makers.
