내 집에서 누렁이는, 가용에 보태려고 송아지 적부터 키운 소였어요.
평소보다 훨씬 좋은 사료를 듬뿍 먹여 소장수에게 넘겨 떠나보내던 날, 눈물을 글썽이며 음메하고 울던 누렁이가 가지 않으려고 발버둥치다가 체념하고 차에 올라서 날 쳐다보며 눈물을 흘리던 모습이 아직도 눈에 선해요.
언젠가는 그렇게 하나 하나
떠나 보내며 살지요.
허전하시겠지만
곧 새로운 무언가가 채워질 것입니다.
