Oh thank the heavens. Riverside fire update!!!!

11% which is way better than 0%.

This is from the Riverside fire Incident command. Not mine. But essential to understand what's happening.

Well. There is 2 very distinct issues I have with this.

first would be the North Bank of the Clackamas being burned all the way past the eagle Creek golf course.

which the eagle Creek golf course got burned very badly.

Next up would be another finger that was directly threatening esticated itself and during that action that I was involved with I did see distinct actions of arson.

It is absolutely amazing how much the community came together.

I pray everyday that these firefighters will be safe it is in the hands of professionals now and they are getting the upper hand as well as national guard support finally.

Next up is a heartfelt plea.

Please whatever you do do not fly your drone around these fires!!!

Yes that's completely correct if you fly your drone it will shut down the air cruise and severely impact firefighting as well as survey and command and control issues.

I would love to get my drone out there and to get some pictures however that is just not possible.

All airspace is completely closed and we are hoping that nobody violates that.

But you know there's always got to be those certain people.

More pictures from all this situation. Multiple trips

Credit to the official firefighters for the Riverside fire Incident. Here is the news that's got me excited. Huge progress.

*Riverside Fire – September 19, 2020 Update

Acres: 137,865
Containment: 11%
Start Date: September 8, 2020
Cause: Human
Total Personnel: 720

Improved Air Quality and Visibility; Additional Resources Arriving

Despite much of the fire area receiving a quarter inch of rain or more, the fire remains active in deep layers of needles on the forest floor, stumps, logs, and standing dead trees. ¬

“Rain doesn’t do much to put out the fire unless we get a lot of it,” said Incident Commander Alan Sinclair. “But the good news is the cool, damp weather is moderating fire activity and giving us a chance to make progress in containment efforts.”

Hand crews and dozers continue to construct and connect firelines on the west and north sides of the fire. On the east and south sides of the fire, firefighters are using indirect line opportunities some distance from the fire, including existing roads outside the wilderness area as the safest, most effective opportunities to limit the fire’s spread in the remote, rugged terrain. The Riverside Fire remains the #1 priority in the Northwest Geographic Area.

Additional resources continue to arrive. Firefighters are working with nearby incident management teams to share resources where they are needed most.

With improved visibility, firefighters plan to fly Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) as needed. If you fly, we can’t. A Temporary Flight Restriction is in effect (tfr.faa.gov). Unauthorized use of UAS or drones in a fire area endangers the lives of pilots and firefighters. All fire aircraft will all be grounded if a drone is spotted. knowbeforeyoufly.org/uasandwildfires/

Firefighters are working to protect a wide variety of values at risk including: public and firefighter safety; local communities in Clackamas County; ancestral tribal lands; powerlines; recreation sites and facilities; hydropower and natural gas energy resources; communication sites; federal, state, and private forest resources; archaeological, historical, and cultural resources; designated wilderness areas and wild and scenic rivers; river ecosystems and riparian areas; wildlife and fisheries resources and habitat.
Fire managers are also working closely with our partners including the Oregon Department of Transportation to support damage assessments for OR-224 along the Clackamas River corridor east of Estacada, OR. Fb.com/OregonDOT/

There will be a Riverside Fire virtual community meeting tonight at 6pm on Fb.com/RiversideFireInfo. No account is required to view the video.

Current evacuation information is available at clackamas.us/wildfires or by calling 503-655-8224.

Today, air quality is much improved after a week of heavy smoke. More information: oregonsmoke.blogspot.com. Willamette Valley Smoke outlook: wildlandfiresmoke.net/outlooks/nworegon

Visit TripCheck.com for numerous road closures in the area. The Mt. Hood National Forest, state forest lands in the fire area, and large portions of Bureau of Land Management lands are closed: inciweb.nwcg.gov/incident/closures/7174/

Honestly enough thank you the police as well as the ordinary citizens who defended their homes and neighborhoods.

I was personally a little worried of having miscommunications while volunteering however every time I was challenged the way I reacted dictated my inclusion.

Quite a few times people would come over and ask me to be included in discussions on what we were doing next. Which I was very honored and humble at accepting.

I got to work with some absolutely amazing people. Blue collar workers that were able to take initiative as well as put aside differences to get the jobs done.

This wouldn't be possible if it wasn't for the heroic efforts of all of our first responders from the common man and woman to the paid professionals to even the amazing professional firefighters who came to protect Oregon.

We were highly honored to have amazing teams from all over the United States come out and help whether officially or unofficially.

I heard reports of one group of firefighters that came out and battled the fire completely out of uniform and on their personal time.

Let alone the redneck militia.

Once upon a time I didn't like country music and I grew up with cowboy hats everywhere. I was raised on the back of a horse.

However these country boys oh wow. They have guns and all sorts of heavy equipment. Not once was I scared or in fear.

Personally I didn't bring a gun I had a chainsaw.

However whenever there was an issue there was always multiple people around who had plenty of guns to manage the situation.

During the arson incident I lost half of the firefighting team to security. And then of course I had to help those guys out a little bit too.

if it wasn't for the redneck militia I don't know if we could have stopped these fires from joining and rampaging all the way through to Oregon City.

Honestly enough it's a miracle. We were so lucky to get the change in the winds.

Had the wind kept up next thing you know we would have lost Portland and as well it probably would have burned all the way to the coast.

I am definitely not in favor for divisions among anyone. We are all human beings and here in America we do have some amazing laws that we should and need to keep.

The biggest one would be to keep and bear arms because the ordinary people protecting their lands as well as communicating on social media were essential at stopping the crime wave of looters.

Let me tell you the list of looters is actually very long and most of these individuals were easily caught up with hard drugs in hand.

Where in Multnomah county you would end up in massive trouble hahaha that's funny actually no in Multnomah county, they would allow you to keep your drugs and you would get a ticket.

I do believe Clackamas county still has acting judges and courts. And are not playing around when it comes to felony crimes and looting.

All of the police that I had talked to were extremely kind polite and professional.

Personally they were so busy tired and overworked that they had no time do think about small issues.

Next up was the massive amount of firefighters especially the ones from out of state as well as from all the local areas. I saw so many out of area vehicles.

Now nobody wearing a uniform could give me an answer from the firefighters I have a couple of winks and acknowledging the rules that they had to play by, well that got me the information that I needed and I just chilled out and waited for the locals to come by to link up.

A lot of times in disasters if you run around crazy people won't allow you to help. However if you are calm and in control people definitely need that in disaster relief.

We will see what goes on but because of my actions here I did spread the word of what really went on on the ground.

Hope you guys enjoy my content.

Thank you all for so much support on the puppy fundraiser. I've reached my goals and it is now just sitting back and waiting for when my puppy is going to be ready.

May you all take action to help others when there is a situation.

I am one of those people that even though I'm not a professional I'm not allowed I can manifest a place to help.

Sort:

Dang. That's really serious. 😶
I hope they can get it under control soon enough.

Oh this is miracle news here. It's slowed down and they are going to be containing alot of it now.

Better than it raging out of control.

This fire is about the size of all the fires we had last year. If not larger... And this is only one of 3 major fires maybe 4 in Oregon?

I had no idea... I hardly watch the news, lately. 🙄

Yeah it was pretty bad and thankfully as of today it is 20% contained which is up from 11% yesterday that is some huge progress for such a big fire
