makes it unlikely that there are only 9 cases in syria. Germany produces corona tests and news say they do 200 000 corona tests a day, and they observed in the beginning 1 death for every 500 or so cases they discovered.
how serious do people take the lockdown in syria? are there many people ignoring it and gathering anyway?

As for the statistics, don't compare a country open from all sides to international travellers and a magnet to hundreds of thousands of refugees and immigrants to a country under blockade, literally, for over 9 years. The number of passengers through Frankfurt airport alone in one month equals the total number of travellers who went through all of Syria's entry points on the borders and through its airports in the past 9 years of blockade, and those include terrorists and refugees.
