Greetings from between Poland and Russia or the Story of Scanner

in #introduceyourself8 years ago (edited)

Hi, Steem! My friend has told me about this site, and it is pretty interesting to read the stories here. So I would tell you my own story, story of scaner. My name is Darya. I was born in the center of Europe, a little country between Poland and Russia. My grandgrandfather went through the Second World War,stayed alive and had 5 children, one of them is my grandmother, so it's one line of my origin. The second is from my grandfather, who was from Russian jews. And the third comes from Ukraine with my father. So I'm a kind of a human of world)

I was growing in the atmosphere of music and cats) So music is one of my passions. As well as reading, drawing, dancing, hand-made, economics. And the number of things that interested me was growing with the speed of light. But the older I became, the more I have heard about that magic one direction! You have to choose one hobby, one life, one subject and practice – they say. But how should I, when I will lose other things? You have to choose - the only answer.  I have tried, but felt, that life was passing by and time was lost. I didn’t know, whom I would like to be. Every profession suited me quite well. I looked at people, who chose informatics, for example, and was becoming more and more successful in this sphere. And what I? I scolded myself, because I couldn’t choose. And once I have found out that everything is ok!

The key is the book "Refuse to choose!". With the help of it I found out who scanners are and that I am one of them. All around say you have to choose only one direction! But it's a mistake! The answer is pretty simple: you just don't have to give up things you like.

That's why now I am studying in the university economics and international relationships, write a blog, have an e-shop, sing in the chorus, draw with watercolors and read lots of books. Our culture says, that you have to choose, in other case you have big problems. But it is just our nature. Like your body wants to move, your mind scans all around, searching for new possibilities. And if you lose interest and switch to another work, that means you have reached the prize, and not just lazy and absent-minded. As if you were hungry, ate and left the table.

The clou is that scanner is a nature and the main our talent in learning the new and creating the new.

That is what I have understood and want to tell other people like me.

Hi! I really like what you said, "You have to choose one hobby, one life, one subject and practice – they say. But how should I, when I will lose other things?"
I feel the same way. Now, I think of it as being a part of the ecosystem of being human. To be involved in many things is how humans evolved, actually. Doing only one thing is not normal.
I've taken this to extreme lengths now as an adult as I write science articles for websites, CEO's and I also write and self-publish my own books. I do the art for my covers, and spend a lot of time learning about topics that interest me. Having freedom to learn and create is one of the best things in life!!
Glad you arrived! Welcome!

Thank you! Surely, it is a freedom, because while you write, publish and create the covers for the books, you have been a writer, publisher and an artist! Isn't it perfect?) It is like travelling through human, as if professions were countries.

Yes! We were taught the wrong lessons in schools! We don't have to be one thing but we all have areas that we like. For me it is science and art. Most great scientists are creative and the world has forgotten this!

A wonderful outlook on life. Welcome to Steemit and keep on scanning and enjoying the many facets of life!

Hi Darya, welcome to Steemit!

I think you will find plenty to scan right here at steemit. We have a varied group of people writing on many different topics.

I hope you find something you would like to write about here. Maybe share photos of some of your watercolor drawings or talk about the books you are reading.

Best wishes and enjoy your time on the site!

I hope so)
Thank you, I will try to write smth interesting and useful)

eto Belarus detka!! #by it is a problem not only in Belarus, and any under-developed culture/country

eeeeeeee! Have you read this book?)

Yes it's great you have many interests. It can be valuable to have broad knowledge as well as deep knowledge. Everyone is different. There's been too much focus on deep knowledge and oftentimes you can make more progress using ideas and innovations from other fields than if you isolate yourself to just one field. Welcome!
