AUTOBIOGRAPHY OF A FIREFIGHTER IN HIVE
Saludos Comunidad Hive. Gracias por darme la oportunidad de ser parte de ustedes. Espero estar a la altura de este privilegio.
Greetings Hive Community. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to be a part of you. I hope to live up to this privilege.
En honor a este hecho les diré que siempre se me ha hecho difícil hablar de mí mismo. Soy un tanto del tipo de persona que prefiere oír a los demás hablando de sus vidas. Me apasiona estudiar las interacciones que realiza el ser humano consigo mismo con los otros.
Escribiendo estas líneas me doy cuenta que no es justo que uno conozca de los demás y que los demás no sepan de uno. Tal vez en parte esto tiene que ver con las razones de porque estudie Psicología, una ciencia que se dedica más a escuchar, observar y ayudar al otro y menos a hablar de sí misma.
A modo de excusa les diré que no es fácil narrar la historia de uno, y más cuando se tiene un poco más de medio siglo, y más en tan pocas líneas. Ustedes dirán que el trato es que deben saber quién soy. Manos a la obra.
Mi nombre es Ysrael Salinas, nací un 29 de enero de 1962, en El Tigre, estado Anzoátegui, al oriente de Venezuela.
I know I should start by telling you about myself. It is logical that when a stranger comes into our life we want to know who he/she is. And even more so when this person is given entry to our project.
In honor of this fact, I will tell you that it has always been difficult for me to talk about myself. I am somewhat the type of person who prefers to hear others talk about their lives. I am passionate about studying the interactions that human beings have with themselves and with others.
But writing these lines I realize that it is not fair that one knows about others and that others do not know about one. Perhaps in part this has to do with the reasons why I studied Psychology, a science that is more dedicated to listening, observing and helping others and less to talking about itself.
By way of excuse I will tell you that it is not easy to narrate one's story, especially when you are a little more than half a century old, and even more so in so few lines. You will say that the deal is that you must know who I am. Well, let's get to work.
My name is Ysrael Salinas, I was born on January 29, 1962, in El Tigre, Anzoátegui state, in eastern Venezuela.
Provengo de una familia extendida. Es decir, vivía con mi abuela, mis tías, tíos, primos, mama y hermana en una misma casa.
Mi mamá era trinitaria y mi papa venezolano. No compartí mucho con él porque era de la guerrilla de los años 60 y para evitar que nos involucraran con sus actividades se alejó. La última vez que vi a mi padre tenía yo unos cinco años. Supe recién que se ganó un dineral en las carreras de caballo, jugando lo que se llamaba 5 y 6. Perdió la vida a manos de un delincuente por quitarle ese premio.
Mi madre era costurera. Vivíamos en el interior del país. Mi abuela en ese tiempo vivía en Caracas con mis tíos y algunas tías. Cuando yo tenía como 8 años ella me mando a buscar para que viviera con ellos.
Recuerdo que viví mi primer gran terror cuando una de mis tías me llevó a visitar unas amigas de ella. Subimos en un ascensor viejo. De esos que tenían una puerta en forma de rejilla y que se cerraban manualmente. Era la primera vez en mi vida que yo me montaba en un ascensor. Este ascensor traqueteaba y hacia un ruido espeluznante. Después de esto no podía montarme solo en un ascensor. Vencí esta fobia trabajando en los bomberos. Hacíamos muchos rescates de personas encerradas en ascensores.
I come from an extended family. That is, I lived with my grandmother, aunts, uncles, cousins, mother and sister in the same house.
My mother was Trinidadian and my father was Venezuelan. I did not share much with him because he was a member of the guerrilla in the 60's and to avoid getting involved with his activities he moved away. The last time I saw my dad I was about five years old. I just found out that he won a lot of money in the horse races, playing what was called 5 and 6. He lost his life at the hands of a delinquent for taking that prize from him.
My mother was a seamstress. We lived in the interior of the country. My grandmother at that time lived in Caracas with my uncles and aunts. When I was about 8 years old she sent for me to live with them.
I remember that I experienced my first great terror when one of my aunts took me to visit some friends of hers. We went up in an old elevator. One of those that had a grating door that closed manually. It was the first time in my life that I had ever ridden in an elevator. This elevator rattled and made a creepy noise. After that I could not ride an elevator by myself. I overcame this phobia by working in the fire department. We did a lot of rescues of people locked in elevators.
He practicado varios deportes: karate, boxeo, aikido, natación y submarinismo. Van en esa secuencia, de acuerdo a los momentos de mi vida. De acuerdo a como iba comprendiendo la vida.
El karate y el boxeo lo practiqué en la época de mi adolescencia. El aikido iniciando la adultez y la natación y submarinismo cuando trabaje como bombero en el Cuartel de Bomberos de Caracas. Le dediqué a esa labor bomberil 30 años de mi vida.
Entré al mundo bomberil cuando tenía unos 17 años. Fui bombero voluntario en los Bomberos Forestales de Caracas hasta los 20 años. Luego ingresé en los Bomberos de Caracas, ya como profesional, a los 21 años. Laboré durante 30 años de mi vida en esa Institución.
Trabajé en varias áreas dentro del Cuartel de Bomberos: en actividades de extinción de incendios y apoyo logístico, en prevención e Investigación de incendios, en la Escuela de Bomberos y el Instituto Universitario de Tecnología Bomberil, del cual soy egresado.
Posteriormente, realice estudios de Psicología en la Universidad Central de Venezuela y gracias a estos conocimientos fui trasferido al Servicio de Psicología de los Bomberos de Caracas. Siendo después, jefe de este servicio.
I have practiced several sports: karate, boxing, aikido, swimming and diving. They go in that sequence, according to the moments of my life.
According to how I was understanding life. I practiced karate and boxing during my adolescence. Aikido at the beginning of my adulthood and swimming and diving when I worked as a fireman in the Caracas Fire Department. I dedicated 30 years of my life to this firefighting work.
I entered the firefighting world when I was about 17 years old. I was a volunteer fireman in the Caracas Forest Fire Department until I was 20 years old. Then I joined the Caracas Fire Department, as a professional, at the age of 21. I worked for 30 years of my life in that institution.
I worked in several areas within the Fire Department: in firefighting activities and logistic support, in fire prevention and investigation, in the Fire School and the University Institute of Firefighter Technology, from which I graduated.
Later, I studied Psychology at the Central University of Venezuela and thanks to this knowledge I was transferred to the Psychology Service of the Caracas Fire Department. Later on, I became the chief of this service.
Me considero una persona amante del conocimiento, de la investigación y de la ayuda al otro. También me gusta la naturaleza. Eso ha sido constante a lo largo de mi vida. Pasaba mucho tiempo en el Ávila, actual Waraira Repano, como lo llamaban los indígenas que habitaban en esa montaña.
I consider myself a person who loves knowledge, research and helping others. I also like nature. That has been a constant throughout my life. I used to spend a lot of time in the Avila, today's Waraira Repano, as the indigenous people who lived in that mountain used to call it.
Como persona apasionada por el conocimiento me ha acercado a las universidades, en ese afán por indagar, analizar los avances en las ciencias. De manera que he transitado por las Ciencias del Fuego, Rescate y Seguridad, también por la Psicología Clínica y la Psicología Social.
Actualmente, transito por la Seguridad y Salud Ocupacional y me estoy sumergiendo en el océano de las blockchains y las criptomonedas. Gracias a la Comunidad de UBIKALO (@ubikalo), quienes me han ido ayudando a nadar en las profundidades del mundo cripto, he ido aprendiendo a sumergirme con confianza, de manera que me encuentro hoy compartiendo este relato de mi vida con ustedes, en esta otra comunidad, la comunidad HIVE.
Espero en los próximos post ir compartiendo con ustedes temas relativos al mundo bomberil, al área de la psicología, sobre todo de psicología de la emergencia, psicología de la seguridad y salud ocupacional y la neuropsicología.

As a person passionate about knowledge has brought me closer to the universities, in that eagerness to investigate, to analyze the advances in the sciences. So I have gone through the Fire, Rescue and Safety Sciences, as well as Clinical Psychology and Social Psychology.
Currently, I transit through Occupational Safety and Health and I am diving into the ocean of blockchains and cryptocurrencies. Thanks to the UBIKALO Community, who have been helping me to swim in the depths of the crypto world, I have been learning to dive with confidence, so that I find myself today sharing this account of my life with you, in this other community, the HIVE community.
I hope in the next posts to share with you topics related to the world of firefighting, the area of psychology, especially emergency psychology, psychology of safety and occupational health and neuropsychology.

En pocos parrafos nos dejo claro que es una persona con tremenda calidad humana, y lo ha reflejado en los chat de Ubikalo a los que tambien pertenezco, no participo mucho, eso si! Casi siempre estoy a mil con mi niño, negocio y cosas de la casa, pero los leo a TODOS y usted es uno de los que esta mas activo y en modo esponja, asi que estoy segurisima que le irá muy bien!
