Video review of the song Never Make Her Sad by Romain Virgo - In Honor of Mothers

in #jahm4 years ago (edited)

Maybe I'm a little lost with Mother's Day, which is not around, but I just think that to honor them there is no day...

On this occasion I want to bring a song that I thought was very beautiful, dedicated to the most special woman we could have in our lives, which is our mother. To the rhythm of reggae, the Jamaican singer Romain Virgo, launched the single entitled "Never Make Her Sad", with a video that simply this great, in my opinion. And that's why I bring information about this artist and his work. Let's talk about:

Virgo is a native of Stepney in the parish of Saint Ann, Jamaica.

Born on 30 January 1990, at 17 his musical career was already taking off, after winning the Digicel Rising Stars competition. He won a big cash prize and a recording contract with Greensleeves Records. What a way to start his music career. You have a lot of songs that he has released as singles, but as full albums he has 3, the next ones:

  • Romain Virgo RV (2010), VP Records
  • The System (2012), VP Records - American Reggae No. 6
  • Lovesick (2018), VP Records - American Reggae no. 1

With which it has reached the top of the main lists... and continues to move forward.

In 20019 he released the song Never Make Her Sad with its respective video, and it is the one I have found and wanted to share and give my impression of it.

I leave the video below for your enjoyment:

Romain Virgo - Never Make Her Sad (Official Music Video)

I am completely sure that someone who does not understand any English will be able to understand the story of the song through the video. It is very well told, from the humility shown by the community in which it lives, hardly anyone does not feel identified. And I don't mean the house or the environment where the whole plot is generated, but the details, for example: the fact that any of us forgot as a child something that mom sent you to do and you have to go back and ask what it was that she needed.

Or those childish pranks like taking a bath in the water container, which could well be anything else...

Or the many efforts made by your mother to be able to give you the minimum necessary, in the case of the video, even in the absence of the father. Mothers simply deserve everything good that we can give.

In short, the video is full of images that even when they are from another country, in a different language to our native one, but I have no doubt that many -in essence- can identify with it.

Here are the lyrics of the song:

Mummy you have always pray for me
Oh, I wish that you could know
Just so much you are dear to me
wowowowo
Yow, everyday me I pray for you
Me a pray fi you (pray for you )
Oh oh oh oh

[Chorus]

Never make her sad, Oh God!
Give her everlasting breath to enjoy my success
Watch the road wey she trod, Oh God!
Give her everlasting breath so she can enjoy my sucess, mhm hmm

I have heard this song before but your review made me really take it in. I agree anyone can understand and relate to the message in this song. Makes me want to do much more for my mom. Now this is real reggae music.

Hello @dmilliz.
Thanks for your comment.
The truth is that I heard the song, I looked for the video, and yes, impossible not to think about my mother after that.
It's a social and humane approach that has quite a lot in this interesting song. And I think that's what reggae is all about, beyond the fact that it emerges as music to be enjoyed, it also reflects society. Here is an example.
