This is a continuation of the Kusatsu hot spring post!
I moved from Kusatsu to a tourist destination with amazing nature!

IMG_-6gpeau.jpg

This is a very deep mountain!

This is a very rare moss colony!
They are all moss↓

This is still the entrance!
There is a larger colony of moss further back!

Actually, this river is special!
I'll explain why later😉

This is normal moss but it is beautiful↓

From here is the big colony entrance↓

Wow!! The slightly bright green ones are all moss!

IMG_-dou82d.jpg

There's moss growing along with a special river!

IMG_-dpw6ep.jpg
As a matter of fact, this river is highly acidic! Because of the acidic hot springs of Kusatsu!

IMG_-szi9hs.jpg

The name of this moss is Chatsubomi-moss!
Of the 18,000 species of mosses identified around the world, this is the one that prefers the strongest acidity!

Why are you here?
Yes, this is a very acidic river!Maybe this river is painful for the frogs!

IMG_-um9te6.jpg

I watched her for half an hour, but she hardly moved🤣
But she could come here, and she should be able to leave💪

There were beautiful insects↓

Thank you for reading!
Arigatou gozaimashita!

Sort:

Nice place to unwind. Is it forbidden to take samples of those moss? Some look good on an aquarium and dish gardens.

Yeah! It's a completely protected area, and all plant and animal species are not allowed to be harvested in the area!😃
Thank you for comment!👍

I see, I can understand the need to protect the place. Are there any authorities that enforce the rule? do they do manual inspections of a tourist's belongings before leaving just to see no one violated the rule? I came from a place with a lot of tourist attractions. Some of the beaches I've been into have rules against taking sand and sea shells and there would be officers keeping watch of the area.

There is not a warden there.
There is a toll booth there, but it's about 2 km away from the moss colony.
And there is no inspection of your belongings at all.
We believe that no one breaks the rules here.
And there's been no real damage or incidents at all😊

That comes as no surprise. Your country is known for keeping order and having responsible citizens. That is something worthy of praise :D

Thank you so much!! It's a pride for me!😊

A very good place to reflect the eyes because the color of the moss is green😁

Your right!
It was a blissful time to see the scenery here!😉👍
