COVID-19 Reaches Kentucky

It looks like my home state of Kentucky has had it's first case of COVID-19, also known as the novel coronavirus, infecting someone within the state. Yesterday our state health officials announced that a Harrison County man has tested positive for the virus. Currently the patient is being treated at the University of Kentucky's Chandler Hospital in isolation.

The details have been pretty light and I've heard just as much information in the days leading up to it from friends and family that work in the area. The governor went on to say that they expect at least one more case though I doubt it will be stopping there.

As I mentioned earlier the patient is originally from Harrison County. The map above shows where that's at in our state with the RED highlight. The ORANGE is where he is currently being treated at and the GREEN is where I live in Jessamine County.

This is certainly hitting pretty close to home. My business office is located in downtown Lexington and I drive by UK's Chandler Hospital nearly each time I go into the city. This definitely makes you realize the story isn't just something in a far away land when you start hearing it's on your commute.

I also realize there isn't a lot you can do to avoid it. That being said I will do what I can to protect my family here. I hope that you all stay safe and do the same!

I bet can expect the cases count to go up a lot because NOW they'll start testing many more people.
