Unboxing my new laptop!

3 days ago, I went to the mall to buy a laptop cos I needed to upgrade. I also mentioned that it took me two days to decide on which one to buy and have decided to buy the Asus ROG Strix G gaming laptop!

The Asus ROG Strix G is one of the inexpensive gaming laptop that has some cool features. It costs $1050 for the unit itself but I spent another $180 for some upgrades. Before I bought it, I watched a lot of reviews about different laptops and have seen this in at least a couple of compilation videos about the best budget gaming laptop to date.

I needed one for photo/video editing/digital painting and an occasional gaming and I can say I never regretted anything and glad that I made the right decision in only two days.

The laptop was neatly placed inside the box. On some unboxing videos that I have watched, the inside of the box has some cool black design printed on it but I also don't mind this at all.

At the center box you'll find the manual.

At the right side, I found a box which I couldn't guess what was inside.

Then I remember there's a free mouse! lol. So, yay!

At the left is where the power cord is.

Opening it was firm. It was firmer than my old one and was nice. The keys are pretty nice to press but I got used to my mechanical keyboard which was really crunchy and I liked it very much so this soft keys of the laptop felt weird at first.

DSC_2466.jpg

It has some random buttons at the top which you can use as a shortcut. While writing this, I remember to turn off the microphone LOL. When you press the Asus logo, the Armoury Crate launches. It's the app where you could see everything you need to know like the specs, temperature, etc. Then you could also adjust the fan, lightings, DPI of mouse, and literally everything lol. So I don't have to check the Task Manager all the time to check how much RAM is left.

They highlighted the WASD keys cos, gaming.

What I like about this is the lights underneath the laptop. :3 You can adjust it to any colors and effects which is cool! Aside from the fancy lights, I like that it doesn't scream I AM A FUCKING GAMING LAPTOP unlike others. It's simple, modern, and doesn't have that weird bulky shit.

DSC_2483.jpg

The fan releases air behind the laptop which is really nice like THANK ASUS for this lol. In my previous one (which was the MSI GP60 2QE), the fan is at the left side, which is beside the USB ports. The problem with that is the wire gets heat up since it's releasing hot air (duh). It's probably not bad for wires but I'm not sure if it can damage it in the long run.

I even place my mug where the fan blows and it kinda maintains the heat of my coffee lol.

Behind you can also see the HDMI, ethernet, and the charging port.

DSC_2500.jpg

At the left side, it has 3 USB ports and an audio jack. The ports are limited but I'm okay with it. No Type-C port which was better though if there's one so I could just plug my Steelseries thing there.

DSC_2487.jpg

The screen is sharp and clear cos it's Full HD 1920x1080. And have you noticed anything? No? Yeah?

Yep! It doesn't have a webcam! :D I'm okay with it haha I just cover my webcam anyway. Sorry FBI...

DSC_2495.jpg

And look how cool it is in the dark!! T_T And with my favorite color :3

DSC_2507.jpg

The mouse is pretty comfortable and the light can be adjusted too! You can also sync the light of the mouse to the laptop through the Armoury Crate app.

DSC_2519.jpg

At the center there's the DPI switch. You can only have one switch though.

The mouse is also pretty light, which can get uncomfortable especially when gaming but this is a freebie so I don't mind. I can just buy a mouse next time. :D

DSC_2511.jpg

And another freebie! It's the laptop bag but it's quite pretty useless now that we can't really travel haha.

DSC_2512.jpg

The size of it is quite big. It doesn't have a lot of foam to protect the laptop inside and it feels really light. So yeah, pretty sure it won't protect my laptop like how my laptop bag protected my MSI from the 5ft fall. It is a decent bag but I won't use this often since I got a better one.

It's still pretty nice of them to give two freebies in one purchase. :3

Nevertheless, I'll look cool with my bag if I use it. :p

Overall, I was really happy with the purchase and I look forward to rendering videos, painting, and gaming with it. It's a pretty good laptop with the price. I mean, pretty sure there are also a bit cheaper laptop with almost similar specs but I didn't like the look of it, so this one was my best choice.

I still need to upgrade the RAM of this one since they all ran out of 16gb RAM at the stores and I also need to upgrade the previous laptop so my brother can use it without issues.

Anyway, if you are interested, there are lots of reviews of this one on Youtube and you can just watch them. I'm not a techie-techie one and I just know the basics, so it's better if you hear the in-depth reviews from those who actually review laptops.

I hope you enjoyed looking at the unboxing pics! :D

Uuuui congratulations, this looks so so awesome, it is so very you!

Thank you! Haha looks very me lol

Yes, it looks super awesome. The right kind of laptop for a creative person like you😊

I think you've basically upped the ante when it comes to your creating. 1080$ that's basically a beast of a device and the display is definitely astonishing full HD display is amazing. I feel the light that changes colour underneath does it for me lol. Basically it'll feel weird tapping on those fragile buttons at first but then you'll get used to it. I feel overall it's value for money, my goodness! Wow. How's the battery capacity?

I feel the light that changes colour underneath does it for me lol.

Yeah I basically got motivated with that apart from the simple design compared to others. It will last for 4 hours I think.

Wow, the light tho. I have never owned that fancy one. Looks exciting and glowing :D ASIANMR 탕모

It even has a feature where the lights can flash according to the beats of the music you're playing. :D

wow hides your computer is super beautiful, you made a very good decision ...
Jeez, my computer is older than me hahahahahahaha, kisses ...

Thank you! Glad I did haha. As long as it's working well, old is still good :D

Hahaha if you are very right my dear hidde ...

Nice upgrade. I need one too coz my desktop computer finally decided to rest in peace two weeks ago.

Anyway, what is the CPU of that model, is it Intel or AMD?

And, does it come with an HDMI cable so you can connect it to a monitor?

Intel. Yeah it has HDMI :D

The one I want has AMD, ROG Zephyr G14, and it's 95k. That much moolah is better spent on a desktop, as laptops aren't good for the stuff I do, anyway.

Yeah just build your desktop instead. I originally wanted a desktop but I was not expecting I’d upgrade this early. It was a rush decision cos I need to give my old one to my brother for his online class and since I don’t know how to build yet, I just went with a laptop. For sure you know how to do it, better just go with desktop unless you want to bring the pc somewhere haha

No webcam? That means you cant use it for any online discussion and presentation that involves a webcam.

Yeah but I don't need it as I'm not gonna present on anyone lol. If I'll need a webcam I can connect one though

Oh, girl! My bf would die seeing this. He's a huge fan of ROG products and this laptop is on his top wishlist right now haha

Hahaha I can't blame him, it looks really cool! And the performance is great. Hopefully he can buy one soon! :D

That’s really cool. I love the glowing colors. I’ve never purchased a gaming computer, but my husband built one for our son and so I learned a little about how they differ from a regular computer. That’s neat that your laptop met your expectations so well!

That's a supportive father your son got there! Thank you! :D

Congratulations on your new (and ROG!!!!) laptop! That would be a lot of fun to play with and run resource-intensive applications especially once you get to upgrade the RAM. 🤤 The lights are also so dang pretty.

It is fun to play with!! :D I currently have 12 gb of RAM which is okay-ish for most part but I will still upgrade it when 16gb are on stocks. It is so pretty!! Thanks for stopping by :D
