One of my favorite parts of Hive at the moment is the passive earning potential through curation, staking, and Passive Income tokens like BRO, DHEDGE, INDEX, and UTOPIS. I've steadily built up a solid collection of those tokens on my account and enjoyed watching those tokens steadily generate returns and grow my account. So much so that I've been actively recommending these tokens to people in discord chats as a way to help them grow their account and start earning passively.
I realized something though- I went in pretty heavy on these tokens quickly. I've been recommending these tokens to people but I don't actually know how quickly the earnings pile up if you just have an initial small investment and don't add to the stack periodically.
I've also been considering setting a Hive account up for my daughter, making a couple of token transfers to it, and then compounding the earnings over time until she is old enough to start using social media and things for herself... She is only 5 after all.
So today we are killing two birds with one stone. I've made the account for my daughter and sent over a small amount of each of my favorite passive tokens:
She will be starting with 10 INDEX, 1 UTOPIS, 1 BRO, and 50 DHEDGE.
I've also sent some HIVE over to the account to powerup so it earns the 3% over time, made her account 50% beneficiary on this post, and maybe I'll send some HBD as well from my next post payout:
I've delegated that HP to Ecency immediately as it will earn daily payouts as well as earn the 3% continuously and grow over time.
I will do a check in post periodically about the progress on her account as it builds up with minimal management- pretty much the only thing I plan to do is powerup the hive earnings or use them to buy additional passive income tokens.
Who knows- we may even post some of her artwork and things like that on her account once in a while. For now enjoy some of her most recent work:

Her account really would be a great way to showcase her art, and maybe as a sort of journal. Where she writes it on paper or offline, and you post it for her. Then it's there when she grows up :)

I definitely plan to upload some of her artwork to that account- I may even make some NFT's of her work! She's too little to do any writing about it all just yet- but as she grows up I plan to ask her to participate more actively in that account! I may get the first update post about it up later tonight- it was a long day at work today so not certain yet!

Aww that's a sweet thing to do for your kid! It will be interesting to see how the "fund" performs. I don't know too much about staking and different tokens on hive. I mostly do splinterlands and a little trading on hive engine. Hopefully the hive ecosystem will be stronger and better than ever by the time she is ready to take over the account.

It is certainly growing all the time- When I started the Diesel Liquidity pools weren't providing liquidity provider rewards and there was no bridge to MATIC. Just goes to show that much has been changing and growing even since the start of this year!
There are more HIVE games to look forward to, new tokens being developed all the time, and the price of HIVE has more than tripled since I started as well. Lots of positives and I am sure the account I've just made for her will grow in value for her to do what she wants with!

The diesel pools seem promising but I have had problems with the one I tried--similar to what you wrote about a month or so ago. I put a few bucks into PIZZA:DEC a day and a half ago to test but either didn't get any rewards or it wasn't visible (I only put in one time so I know it wasn't the timer reset issue if that is still a thing). Also, I was told it might be counted in the SPS airdrop but it wasn't for me.
But anyway, it does look like the future of hive is very bright.
So the diesel pools do pay out daily but the transactions don't show up correctly in peakd or other wallets. You can go and check the block and you'll see the payouts that way or if you know how much DEC and PIZZA you have you can see the amount increasing daily even when the wallet doesn't show a payout transaction. I am still in the swap.hive:pizza pool and the pizza:starbits pool and both pay out correctly each day but don't show a transaction!
I am hopeful that the tribaldex devs figure out how to resolve it because I am sure there are many people that get frustrated when they don't see the transactions.
I also wish the pizza:dec pool counted for the SPS drop but until the splinterlands devs decide to recognize it as an official pool it wont be :(
that is interesting. What is weird is that it had been well over 24 hrs but my wallet was still showing 0 pizza. Plus I checked the hive engine block explorer and the hive block explorer and didn't seem to find it. Plus it also gives SIM which I know for an absolute fact I didn't get any of. Weird situation
well your first payout could be closer to 48 hours from when you put the tokens into the pool. if you put them in right after the payout happens then you wont get the first days payout 24 hours later and will have to wait the whole second day! you can see the actual payout times on the distribution contract for each pool in tribaldex here:
