There has been considerable uproar of late about the books in our library district collection. We serve everyone, which means we have controversial new books, to say the least. I wouldn't be surprised if someone decides it's time for a book burning. I have already written about the Streisand effect of book bans, but lashing out in self-righteous anger is always more popular than letting things flare up and then fade out on their own.

That said, I had to remove a book from circulation today. A patron brought its contents to my attention, and it was truly unacceptable. I mean, how can a publisher do this? Pages 257-272 weren't just from the wrong novel, they were by a completely different author! Our library doesn't support book bans or restricting access to information, but this was just absurd, and the book has to go. Hopefully the distributor will replace it with a new copy.
My own photo and editing, with my apologies
In recent years, perhaps as a consequence of COVID chaos, we have seen more of this kind of problem. Such new books errors are usually just missing pages, a signature upside-down, or pages in the wrong order. A completely separate book mixed in is a new problem for me!
Nah that's not interesting or anything. Is that the first time you've seen that? Like Brad Pitt switching footage in Fight Club only different.
I guess it simply means no one cares. I just see that attitude ruining quality in so many places. Usually read an article on Fox News or CNN, 9 times out of 10 they are poorly written with numerous errors in simple grammar. No one proofreads and no one cares.
In addition, news reports so often include errors. Corrections don't get the same attention s sensationalist headlines.
Someone is definetly sleeping on the job that such books were printed and published!
Weird! So weird! Covid affected all the activities in the world but how it has something to do with the book's pages replaced with another book. Strange!
Oh my, that must have been confusing for the patron! And now...the wait for a new copy begins. Hoping there wasn't too much suspense on that last page.
It was more like a chapter was missing 3/4 of the way through the story, so the ending was still there.
One considers interesting misprints as collector items in the worlds of philately and numismatics. It seems to me that that there should be some interest in collecting interesting book misprints.

But shitty mass-market romance novels filled with library markings?
What a cool fuckup!!
That is absolutely bizarre. Punish it before removal so that all may see!
I posted an embarrassing picture on the internet and revealed its dirty secrets to the world. Is that not punishment enough? I can't do anything destructive lest we lose the option of replacement at their expense.
That's true. Dirty secreted swine that it was!!
Oh man, that must be frustrating for the reader. It has happened to me once or twice finding a missing page or end of the story. It drives you mad! I guess these days it is easy to track down a digital copy of the book to finish it. It the bad old days you were just left wondering if you'd ever be able to find out what happens!

.Replacing the book pages is strange 😂
I think the publisher must have had a fight with his wife before publishing the book 😂

Don't worry, I'm not about to stomp all over your account for it. That is a common newbie faux pas, after all.
Thank you 😃
Naahhh, This mix-up is way too much for a published book. But it's very possible this mistake is from the printer. I'm just trying to think outside... you know
