Making it matter

in #life4 years ago

I am thinking a lot about actions, endeavors, creations that can last but not become obsolete. It doesn’t matter if they last in some concrete, physical way (like works or art or tools), or in other spheres of life where one can’t really grab or measure them in any way, yet knows that they are prominently present there.

You see, most of our words, writings, actions, and even material creations are - how should I put it?.. Weak. They are weak, they have no volume, no substance. People pass so many hours and days in a seemingly busy manner, full of everything, but if you look a bit deeper, it’s all shallow, superficial nothingness.

I am not denying the beauty of fleeting moments that are precious precisely because you can’t keep them forever or make them frozen in time, or change them into something heavy, concrete. I’m not against fragile, passing beauty of life. Rather I see that it also goes unnoticed, becomes unimportant as other empty, superficial words, actions, emotions steal our time and our ability to notice and catch those moments that will never happen again.

Maybe it’s about making every moment stronger, making it matter. Maybe it’s about talking less and choosing the words carefully. Maybe it’s about being heavily, strongly present in my own life every minute of it, making it dense, full, saturated, but without losing lightness and flexibility.
