Yesterday before the storm my son and I harvested as much chili peppers as we could to pickle and make our shelf stable garlic chili paste. The volunteer tomato plants are flowering and we found two little sweet tomatoes that were ready to be picked.
Having a good harvest involves a little elbow grease and dirty fingernails as I mentioned in my blog post about worms and composting
I am grateful to have my little flock as they don’t only gift us with gorgeous yummy eggs...
And a ton of cuteness...
But also manure which has to be raked out of their coops and run at least twice a week and tilled into any area/s we plan on growing goodies.
Without that dirty work there is no this...

On cold winter evenings to feed my family.
I have to feed my garden to feed us first. And I love it!
