We woke up to smoke filled skies and irritated lungs. The wildfires started by a ridiculous gender reveal party are growing with the Santa Ana winds upon us. I am keeping my eyes on the wild dry Bush that grows on the hills that surround my home. I pray it remains untouched by flames.
The high heat and humidity have contributed to some of my older sweet potatoes growing slips. These I will be planting back into the ground to nourish us.
We’ve been soothing our lungs with the onion syrup I cooked for us the other day.
Chores have been done...
And my harvest has been vacuum sealed, frozen and dehydrated over night.
No more gardening today. I’m saving my breath for when the skies are blue again. Hopefully soon.

Thanks sugar! Yes some idiots decided that during fire alert season it would be cool to use pyrotechnics in the dry brush to reveal their baby’s gender. Talk about morons! No the fires are burning uncontrollably in more than 10,000 acres thankfully the couple is being held responsible and if anyone dies they will be charged with murder
