Lovely piece Diana!
I stopped counting at 9, the ones in my circle of acquaintances, friends and relatives who's adventures in this world have come to an end over the past seven months. But you know, at this point in the evolution of human life, it is as natural as breathing to stop doing that at some terminal point and to keep on existing for those left behind only in terms of your heritage, whatever you succeed in your lifetime that to be.
For us still actively around in the conscious realm we often refer to as "this world", life at virtually every moment offers opportunity to enhance the quality of life for those around us, whatever your own condition might be. And in memories of those experiences lie the true and lasting joys of life.
Yesterday I briefly popped in, surprising two friends of long standing of mine in an old age home...both with mobility impaired, but minds still bright. What a joy to see their faces light up at just that small gesture of acknowledgement for what their friendships mean to me!
What a privilege to still be able to share the prospects of the exciting time we live in, no matter how traumatic present conditions for most may be.
