Continuing on my wildlife photography workshop, this time the subject were a bit easier to photograph, the Camels of South America.



Not many people know that camels are from the camelid family that originate from North America. Around 2 million years ago when sea levels decreased and exposed Central America connecting North and South America a group of camels moved south and evolved into the two wild camelids that you see today, the Guanaco and the Vicuna. At the same time another group migrated across the Bering Straight into Asia and evolved into the camels of Asia and Africa. The original group from North America became extinct 10,000 years ago
