One of the advantages of living in remote places, especially during a pandemic, is being able to go camping and explore off the beaten track. The Rainbow Valley is a geological wonder hidden in the middle of the Domeyko Mountain Range about 1.5 hour drive from San Pedro de Atacama.

On this camping trip I had a different mission. Firstly, to find a beautiful camp spot far away from any civilization, but also to take advantage of the full moon and go hiking through the mountains at night. After setting up camp and cooking a nice meal we went wandering through the valley admiring the geological formations which make the Rainbow Valley so special before making our way back to camp to watch the milky way rise. I was lucky enough to capture a timelapse of the milky way rising before sunrise.
