On the other side of focus.

Life is interesting - a few billion people go through the same physical space but very rarely have the same experiences.

While it's true that this life doesn't come with a "user's manual" and we all have to wing it, there are quite a lot of things we can learn and figure out just by looking a little closer and for longer.

A very popular saying claims that we learn the best when we experience things but I dare say that it's not the experience in itself that teaches us stuff. Like art, you have to stop to take it all in for it to be meaningful to you.

Without that moment of reflection, you would have just gone through something random, learning nothing, and almost certainly repeating everything that brought you to that point in the first place.

So, it is safe to say that we are supposed to become better by being more observant - of ourselves and the things around us. You should know that choosing to do this will very easily lead you down a rabbit hole.

When you give yourself the opportunity to stop and experience life instead of just drifting through, you start to notice a lot of things. You quickly realize that many things in life run on the same underlying principles.

In the same way that your camera sometimes struggles to find focus but becomes crispy sharp once it does, everything you need is on the other side of focus. This means that once you stop to observe, you will start to see more clearly.

When you start to observe things, you naturally begin to question them. You will want to know why they are the way they are, why they aren't a million other possible variations, what happens if something changes, who made the decision that things should be a certain way, and so on.

When you begin to question things, you start to uncover a lot more. You either get a better understanding, figure out how to make it work in your favour, or realize that things could be done a lot better.

The clarity you get from questioning things sets you apart from the majority. Because we are always on the move, many people never stop to observe and question the world around them. Don't be that person that complains about their world when the answers they seek are right there waiting to be noticed.

The greatest inventions were as a result of questioning things. The greatest revolutions were as a result of questioning things. The human race has made so much progress by observing and asking questions.

This is what it means to be curious.
