RE: Lily's Laptop: Misadventures of Saving a New Laptop purchased with Steem from Windows spyware with openSUSE

in #life8 years ago

I've got very little experience with Lenovo but I'm happy with it using openSuse. Can't really cite any issues at this point. As for windows 10...that's the kind of operating system that's gonna make people hate using computers

Yep, I had to sort out one of my father's friends' laptops after Windows 10 decided to force itself on him. It's like the OS version of a violent rapist haha

That's a fitting way of putting it.

Really cool to hear you use Linux. I've been doing Linux sysadmin work over 20 years.

I've been thinking of installing Proxmox (debian w/ZFS virtualization software on a laptop) and adding a desktop environment.

See, I'm well versed with ubuntu and have tried several other flavors, but I don't know much more than that. I like that linux is ideal for both those that can really customize it and those that don't want to have to.

I have a bunch of servers to start a small Data center with. Is there anyone there that would want such a setup there that I could setup and manage?

Electricity is expensive here so you'd have to consider buying a solar setup to offgrid it.

How about gasoline? I have a Prius and a 1400 watt inverter that I used for 24 hour power generation when Burlington Wisconsin was without power a month ago for three days. The car spins up every so often to recharge battery. Still not likely an ideal candidate for a Data center. And I'd only be able to run one or two servers this way.

Can you point me to someone who could help Roxann and I to a place we could stay inexpensively as we come to find out if we would like to live there in Acupulco?

I can probably help you with that, myself. Have I already asked you for an email address? I am starting to come to the conclusion that I am seriously disorganized and am working on that lol.
