I'm not the same person I was ten years ago and I'll be different, yet, in ten years. Life experience does that to a person.

To a degree. However, it usually doesn't take a nice person and turn him mean as it did in this case. For the most part people don't generally change their core personality that much although I guess it can be different on a case-by-case basis.
