Whether you're a curious George or a scientist combing the floor of the Amazon, you never know what new species nature has in store. Case in point: the following incident.

According to a report, the rare reptile was found by photographer and wildlife enthusiast Rakesh Mohalick.

The snake is reportedly non-venomous and measures 14 centimeters in length. It has two fully-formed heads, and consequently four eyes, and two tongues. Even though their existence is rare, experts believe that such creatures do not/cannot survive in the wild for long.

While snakes with unique features are undoubtedly frightening for a lot of people; in many cultures they are seen as a blessing and a good omen.

The existence of two-headed snakes of different kinds has been reported before.

The occurrence has the same process as conjoined twins; they are born from monozygotic twin embryos. Two-headed animals are termed as bicephalic or dicephalic.

Last year too, a two headed snake was found in India.

In December 2019, locals from the Ekarukhi village of Belda forest range in West Bengal spotted a two-headed snake. However, as the villagers were apprehensive about the sighting the Forest Department of the state was unable to capture the snake.

Let us hope this wolf snake survives so that more information can be gathered about the two-headed snakes.
